Yes you are right there has to be a reason, but I cant answer that. For me, I believe it started with dry mouth + low stomach acid allowing bacteria to thrive. Im not sure why or how the bad bacteria took over (nor do I think that's particularly important as it could be any of a myriad of reasons)....
