I went to an ENT recently, and he examined my nasal passages and pharynx with a scope. He found that I had adenoid hypertrophy, with 40% blockage of the area. I would think that this would be a likely cause of the fecal smell I get from my nose. But at the same time, I've heard many here say that re...

I kind of explained that badly. I didn't mean on the cords themselves, but in the recesses and on the membranes around them. There's a lot of surface area there for biofilms. The oxygen content wouldn't be any higher near the trachea if you think about it. Any air that gets to the trachea has to pas...

How can you cure your BB by just cleaning the glossopalatine arch? I'm not saying it wouldn't help, but if you have post-nasal drip coating your nasopharynx, the back of your throat, and even down towards the vocal cords, aren't you going to be missing a lot? Especially if you have fetid tonsils wit...

My mouth did feel cleaner and I felt less symptoms of reflux, but it could have been in my head, who knows.
I don't think I was on it long enough to know the full impacts though.

Yeah that's a really good point about the connection between the keratin in the hair and on the surface of the tongue. I have a very mild genetic condition that causes there to be a slightly thicker buildup of keratin on my legs. Something about the composition of the cells causes them to slough off...

There aren't really a ton of treatments for it I don't think. You can make changes to your diet, like eating smaller meals and drinking more water while eating, etc. I also tried a medication called Reglan which is supposed to help with stomach function. I had to stop it after a week though, because...

During an upper GI for a different issue the doctor said that I also have delayed gastric emptying. Wouldn't be surprised if that played some role. I doubt the smell actually comes from food "rotting" in your stomach though. The pH in the stomach is very low because of all the acid. I don'...

4 weeks seems like an incredibly long time to take Metronidazole. I tried it for 10 days, in combination with another general antibiotic and a proton pump inhibitor a year ago, which is the triple therapy treatment for H. Pylori. It didn't help me at all. I would at least talk with a doctor about us...

What kind of antibiotics do you plan to use, at what dose, and how did you pick 4 weeks?
Just wondering how you arrived at all the details to make it most effective. Is your doctor working with you on that or is it something you're doing alone?

Thought this thread might help me clarify my own plans for myself and help others do the same. What are the next three things you intend to try to cure your BB? Today I've begun two weeks of completely eliminating dairy from my diet. If that doesn't help, the next step will be to have all four of my...

This guy had BB for two years that smelled like mothballs. He went to dentists, doctors, had numerous tests done, and no one could find anything wrong with him. He was eventually cured with a strong dose of an antibiotic, despite having tried to treat himself with them previously. He had a low-grade...

Did anyone else have braces and/or a retainer when they were younger? A lot of people here have said that their BB began in their early teens. That is the time when many kids get braces, followed by a retainer for many years. I remember my retainer used to get pretty gross sitting in the case when i...

I drank a lot of cranberry juice over the past few days and noticed a pretty significant reduction in my BB during that time. It was pretty much the only thing I drank (and the only thing I had in the apartment). It wasn't a cure, but it was pretty significant. Maybe a 40-50% reduction. Cranberries ...
