Brightonguy, the orange juice was added to make the mouthwash more palatable for the young person mentioned in the article. It’s not necessary and was only added to mask the bitterness. I probably would just skip it too. I would also use less water more like 30 ml (300 ml may have been a typo in the...

The mouthwash is not meant to be used indefinitely. It’s prescribed for 7 to 14 days at a time (sort of like regular antibiotics). The Anne Bosy mouthwash has both metronidazole and nystatin (an antifungal) in it. It’s also only to be used for 14 days. http://www.freepatentsonline.com/y2004/0253193....

Hi paddy,

You could make your own metronidazole mouthwash by combining 300 mls water, 150 mls concentrated orange juice and a crushed 200 mg metronidazole tablet.

Stomach Acid Test

This has been posted before but I think it's worth repeating. Below is a simple home test for hyperchlorhydria (too much stomach acid) and hypochlorhydria (too little stomach acid). Not sure how accurate the test is but it seems easy enough and probably worth a try. Self Test You can also easily tes...

Hi chiki89, Have you tried nasal irrigation? It’s very effective and a lot of people find it helpful. I used to have mild PND and I find it keeps everything under control (cutting out wheat helped too). I do this most days and also have not had a cold in over 2 years. Your nasal passages may feel dr...

Hi Malory, Wow, that’s quite the combo! Some people that have been diagnosed with TMAU2 have been cured with a single course of antibiotics so it might be worth considering. Lactulose is a laxative that’s supposed to decrease the intestinal transit time and possibly reduce the amount of TMA produced...

Hi Malory,

If you are used to eating a choline rich diet, it may take a while before you see any results. Hopefully you will see results sooner than later. Have you been prescribed any antibiotics or lactulose? Cheers C

Hi Malory, Have you been given the TMAU diet sheet and meal plan from UCL Hospitals? If not, you can view them at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Trimethylaminuria/ under ATTACHMENTS. If you haven’t already seen them these links are specifically for choline content in food. Both are very good. ...
