I would get my sinuses x-rayed if i were you. I think it could be the adenoid also. It's located behind your nose, above the throat. Seems to fit the location you describe.

Increasing the body temperature to the point were all bacteria dies you would be dead long before. Bacteria are more resistant to temperature changes then humans. Some bacteria can survive being in boiling water

A doctor wouldn't lie about your breath if you asked them. If every single person you ask denies smelling anything, then you have halitophobia. These reactions people give you, is it mainly nose rubs? That's what most people with halitophoboia/imaginary bad breath sees.
