I experience the same - I have thick mucous on the tongue, throat and esophagus. In my case it serves to protect the tissues from reflux and is a perfect environment for bacteria, which in turn produce VSC. Post nasal drip may as well be the result of reflux.

I think the direct reason for the smell are biofilms and from what I`ve been reading, these are almost impossible to break. Flagyl and Metronidazole work temporarily; when stopped, the biofilm is back to normal and maybe stronger

Maybe you do not understand - ALL of us have this awuful smell "more than few weeks" and for most of us no candidia is detected in the throat.
