Re: Backyard Oral Microbiota Transplant

Definitely. I'd put an ad in craigslist for someone with perfect dental health to enroll in a "research test" in which their tongue is scraped 3x daily and kept in fridge for daily collection. (will it survive that?) Would pay them of course not sure how much would be necessary. So gross ...

Re: Backyard Oral Microbiota Transplant

Nope. I haven't even spoken about halitosis with any of my family and it would be near impossible to get any of them to agree to giving me their tongue scrapings to put in my mouth. They'd probably try to check me into a mental hospital. That's a shame. What if it works for me? Will you find a way ...

Re: Backyard Oral Microbiota Transplant

Prep is optional for fecal transplant. You are correct but the same website also says Starve your microbiota for two weeks before fecal transplant as most have a two week life cycle. This means going on a low carbohydrate, low fiber diet. If you are very sick an elemental liquid diet may be necessa...

Re: Backyard Oral Microbiota Transplant

The pathogen is/ are the bacterial colonies. Immediately edited it after I posted it but you were too quick. Tired it's late :( I don't want to use the bleach because I think it will kill the transplant, I do not want to use antibiotics because they do not work for my bb. Understandable about not w...

Re: Backyard Oral Microbiota Transplant

So I can't see why an oral transplant would require it? Found this: Decide how you are going to prepare the bowel to welcome fecal transplant (lavage, natural or traditional antibiotics, biofilm busters, fasting etc). If you choose to purge/lavage, only do this prior to the first fecal transplant i...

Re: Backyard Oral Microbiota Transplant

This is a great (and very disgusting) idea. Excited to see the results. I think we should gather a little more info on the oral microbiome just so we are up to date with the current science. Here is what I found with a cursory search: It has long been known that oral bacteria preferentially colonize...

Re: This is what’s been working for me

I know you said you are doing something similar to what I suggested, but have you followed the exact steps I listed? I really think it could make a difference, and I find it is only effective if I follow all of the steps and that the effectiveness increases over time. It took a week for me to be ab...

Re: Last Resort Treatment [LONG POST]

It was a bit cheeky but I was being serious. If it cured you I would literally pay for his tongue scrapings, as would many other desperate members here.

Just like how people pay for other people's poop with fecal transplants. A cure is a cure, right?

Re: Sinus problems

Has anyone tried the sinus spray they sell with oil of oregano already in it? The reviews say it burns like hell...but I'd be willing to give it a try if it would stop my nasal drip/kick an infection if there is one. I think it's called Sinu Orega. I made a DIY nose spray using a saline pump spray ...

I think you'd be a hero for testing it out for us! If it worked then you could start a home business selling your husband's tongue scrapings. Win, win!

Re: Last Resort Treatment [LONG POST]

I just realised that if you want to repopulate your oral microbes then rather than kissing you would need the donor to scrape their tongue and give you the bacterial coating to rub over your tongue, A bit gross, but wouldn’t you agree that makes more sense? :) It would probably be more effective if...

Re: Last Resort Treatment [LONG POST]

You may well be right, in fact I hope you are! The only other thing I would add is that I had always read that antibiotics aren’t effective at curing accrue sinusitis as there is no blood in the sinuses to carry the antibiotics to them. Do you think a flip turn sinus flush containing antibiotics wo...

Re: This is what’s been working for me

Hey, sorry I should’ve been clearer. I meant when you use the bleach method, how long are you B.B. free? And have you found the bleach method becomes less effective over time? I definitely will buy some pepto! No it does not get less effective from what I've seen. Only been using bleach for about a...

Re: This is what’s been working for me

Did it last for longer and it’s effectiveness has reduced? Or has it only ever made you BB free for a couple of hours? Bismuth is pretty powerful stuff. I've woken up with zero morning breath before after having chewed a few tablets the day before. Unfortunately it seems to lose effectiveness and b...
