MeilMed recommends using distilled bottled water . Microwave for a few seconds to warm. Neilmed and neti pots are usually microwave safe . You can fill them with lid off and microwave till boiling , then let sit until warm .

There are many other bacteria in your bathroom that we don't want in our noses . Many members swear by sinus rinsing , lets keep them sanitary .

Bathroom cleanliness measures : Closing toilet lid before flushing if youre not sitting there . This helps stop poop and pee from being aerosolized all over your bathroom . http://www.enews.org/blog/2006/06/toilet-plume.html

Consider a squeegee for after your shower ,mirror ..etc , and leaving the fan on for a bit to help cut down warm moist breeding environment .

Please add your tips folks :)

Another option would be to boil tap or filtered water just before filling the neti pot. The only downside is having to wait for the water to cool down to 100 degrees F before using. I would guess it would take about 20 minutes to cool down the amount of water in a neti pot.

i guess it can be stuck in the fridge or freezer if they are really clean to speed the process . or keep previously boiled water ice in a ziplock bag to cool the boiling water 8) .

Just immersing the boiled cold water cools it in minutes .
