Uk meet ups!

Post by impactdial »

Hey so I recently signed up to this forum, but I’ve been reading it for a while. I suppose it would be good to first start of with my story.
I am a 25 year old male living in Manchester. I’ve suffered from unexplainable body odours rather than breath odours mostly since I was about 14 and its still ongoing, I’ve also ordered the test for Tmau and I will be doing the choline load and collecting a urine sample next week. The odour is definitely real and confirmed by an honest friend, though it is also transient Ive confirmed this with my friend, but I don’t like bringing it up too often.
In terms of bad breath, I’ve become more aware of it recently.

In 2013 I went to visit relatives and whilst we were out my cousin told me my breath sucked and this was after brushing and chewing gum, it rocked me a bit, but I started being more extreme with oral hygiene since then. I’m aware that halitophobia is a possibility but again I have had obvious reactions as well, but since then haven’t been directly told my breath stinks. Again weirdly the reactions seem transient.

I do have a bad taste at the back of my mouth and a permanent coating but only at the back of my tongue.
As for self tests well, scraping the back and middle of my tongue with my finger I get a sweet smell but another disgusting smell underneath it, but when I do the same with a cotton bud the sweet smell is there but the smell its mixed with is more like a mouthy smell, which is a weird result. I suppose when I rub my tongue with my finger I really dig with my nail and pull up some of the stuff at the back. As for the sweet smell, I do have currently undiagnosed flank pains, Ive done kidney function and urine analysis tests multiple times but they came back fine, something is wrong but unfortunately as is the case a lot of times, the preliminary tests are ok so the doctors think its in my head or that it is not a real problem.

I know Dr. Murat mentioned that bad taste and tongue smell might not mean bad breath, its still unnerving that I don’t pass the lick tests.
My tonsils look small, I don’t think stones are too much of an issue as I’ve never coughed one up, and rubbing the area they do feel coarse but the crypts are not deep and the odour is not too strong from them, but there is a bit of an odour and it is similar to what is on my tongue; sweetness mixed with something more putrid. Is it possible parts of my tonsils are hidden?

Ok I’ve spoken enough about my issues lol, I wanted to see if anybody was interested in meeting up in the UK. I’m planning to go to malory's next meet up and I’ve already met with one person who suspected he has tmau and his order comes out through his nose and mouth. When we met we could not smell each other; which is a common theme Ive noticed.
So about meet ups Id be willing to travel in the uk though ideally if anyone is near Manchester that would be great! It would be informative to see if we can detect anything from each other and I can also get in contact with the person I met already.

Hey which part of Ireland are you from?

I wouldn't mind going to Ireland except Im soo broke right now, and of course getting a job wil be hard with the issues I have so I feel a little stuck. :?

Its frustrating, like so many people without issues, don't even bother to find a job and I desperately want to work and earn a keep but I feel I cant do it, I know eventually I'll have to push myself to do it, God knows how I'll handle it.

My good friend, its good to see that you're still active on here. Personally, I have yet to meet up or even come accross someone who suffers from the same condition as myself. So I find it strange that many people on here who meet up say that they cant smell each other. Keep us updated on your next meeting, im curious to see if anyone there can smell something and if they can, what do that someones breath/odor smell like.

Hey man good to speak to you again too mate. How's things going for you?

Well that's interesting, I'm yet to meet someone with extremely strong bb, the worst I've encountered is actually my uncle, and weirdly although his travels quite far so long as he doesn't face me I don't smell it, like I sat next to him in the car and couldn't detect it as he faced forward.

And yeah if anyone actually comes lol, I'll defo keep you updated

Btw I meant to ask how do you handle going to work and the anxiety? It's very difficult for me tbh.

I have bad breath somewhat similar to your uncle, my bad breath can travel 30+ feet but it has a radius of about 5+ feet.

I've been good, I do appreciate you for asking. Everyday I'm becoming more accepting of this curse and Im learning how to adjust to it. How have you been?

As for work, it can be tough at times. I work on the Las Vegas strip so everyday I see people on vacation having the time of their lives. But I think what helps me at work and in life is not blaming myself for something I cant help. And most of the people i meet are tourist so I wont see many of them ever again which helps. However, it sucks when a female employee comes to where I work and tries to get to know me because once they smell my bad breath they do nothing but try to avoid me afterwards and im sure they talk about me to their friends.

What is difficult and causing you anxiety for you at your job?

Man the las Vegas strip? It must get crazy busy what type of place do you work at?

And man you're still brave to just get on with work I don't really feel like continuing in regular work, I'm looking at loads of work from home sheit.

And well as for work the first thing is my bb is the least of my worries lol. I mean I know it gets bad and if you've seen my latest thread I'm getting alot of that breath mixing now which makes me feel really self conscious. But my big issue has been really bad body odor (I'm lucky ain't I), and I tested negative to tmau which was frustrating because I was quite sure that was it.

So yeah work is pretty shitty, I work mainly on the hotel bar, and I get reactions especially from drunk people. They seem to have terrible bearings when it comes to smell when they're drunk, and they are constantly sniffing themselves when I'm serving them which is so fkin annoying. I've had people cover their face with their jumper/shirt twice when I've approached them...that was embarrassing. And often guests will say "it stinks like shit here" or "did you farted mate" they will say to their friends.

Tbh I've never really thought I had a fart odour, my friend told me when I stink it's just of really strong BO.......but I dunno...I've been really stressed at work, more so than any other time in my life so that might be having an effect if this is some metabolic issue....

But yeah I'm still going though, and when I read how you continue with life it inspires me to keep fighting, it sucks though sometimes, like my boss woke up didn't have time to shower and came straight to work.... absolutely no odour, and his breath has a slight cigarette smell from smoking.......it's just not fair, honestly.

Vegas is crazy, especially this year. If you ever want to come out here bro let me know, we can definitely make something happen. We just had EDC not too long ago, now we're all getting ready for the NFL season and of course the Mayweather-McGregor and GGG-Canelo super fights that are coming up soon and possibly another Paquiao-Horn mega fight(on tv again or maybe in vegas the next fight). And its only going to get more crazy out here once they build this football stadium and the Raiders football team move to Vegas. There's so many things you can do in this city including beyond the vegas strip but because I have bad breath I just go to work and school which is probably a good thing because if I didnt have bad breath I would probably be wasting my time socializing.

I work as an administrative assistant in the sportsbook for one the largest casino/hotels on the strip so the majority of my time im handling the paperwork and setting the odds board in the backroom. The other times im writing tickets and talking it up with guest about sports and betting. I actually like going to work, its the only time when I can socialize with people and some people will stick around and talk with me. The people I work with are very cool and understanding of my situation, I couldnt have asked for a better team to work with.

And there are times where work sucks for example i work in a sports book so if you ever been in one it looks like a movie theatre and my station is located directly under the screen facing the audience as they are watching the screen in my direction. I cant tell you how demoralizing it is to be talking to a guest at my station and there are people in the audience behind us, up to 30 feet away covering their noses, coughing, looking disgusted wondering where is that smell coming from. I cant lie sometimes its funny because if its a couple or a group of friends, usually they'll assume its someone they're with or around them thats causing that bad smell. But there have been people who realized it was me and came up to my station and offered me gum or just walked directly out.

I feel for you as a bar tender because I would assume people eat and drink close to you which i know is hard. Stay strong and dont give up. I know we will find a cure eventually, trust me im still exploring every avenue I can with the more research i do. I also hear that you mentioned you had a body odor. Where exactly is your odor coming from on your body? I had a friend who's armpits use to smell bad back in high school all the time and he even carried deodorant with him all the time. He just came to Vegas to visit not too long ago and I didnt even smell any body odor from him. I will have to ask him what happened or what did he do to remove his body odor.
