Clementine, I can relate to your problem. Here are some of the things that helped me battle bad breath effectively. Though I am not a doctor, I have made plenty of research about bad breath for years. First, let me refresh some of the common causes of bad breath: Sores in your mouth, mouth ulcers, gum infections, sinus infections, candida infections, blocked nostrils caused by allergies, cold, or a deviated septum, throat infections, throat inflamations caused by snoring, not drinking enough water, esophagus inflamation, residue of food in the stomach caused by acid reflux, stomach acid brough back to your mouth because of acid reflux, dental plaque, not brushing after eating certain foods, such as dairies, and proteins; and an inbalanced PH.

1. Starting from the basics to the more complex, drink two glasses of water as soon as you get up so you start your day hydrated and try consuming at least 15 cups of water per day, not 8, how it is usually recommended. Please notice that the water in the foods and other drinks you take during the day, is included in the 15 cups recommendation, according to the medical organization One Medical.
2. If you suffer from sinus infections or get stuffy nose because of allergies or a deviated septum, try to find a solution with the help of a doctor or by washing your nostrils every day, or as needed, using a sinus rinse device system called neri pot, which is usually a saline water solution in a plastic pot that you use to rinse your nasal cavities. You can get several neri pot systems over the counter at the pharmacy, but make sure you use distilled water in the neri pot because tap water can be contaminated, which can cause dangerous brain infections, according to a specialist I talked to. She recommended me to buy a solution that comes already mixed in a bottle, which is just saline water, and is very inexpensive or use distilled water when if I choose to use the neri pot.
3. Make sure you keep a good oral hygiene, by flossing your teeth at least once or twice a day and brush after meals.
4. Get a dental cleaning at least every six months to remove plaques that naturally form on your teeth.
5. Dissolve one or two teaspoons of baking soda in a glass of water to make a mouth wash and swish around in your mouth for one to 3 minutes, which will help change the PH in your mouth from acidic to alkaline, reducing bad breath odors instantly.
6.To control acid reflux, when I get up I chop a branch of celery, add two spoons of flax seed powder, and half a peeled potato and make a shake using two glasses of water. It also has other amazing benefits to your health. Before going to bed, I take two tablespoons of honey, which helps you sleep well, helps your liver detox your body during your sleep, and can help reduce the inflamation on your exophagus and stomach caused by the acid reflux, commongly known as GERD.
7. You can choose to follow a diet that includes keeping away foods that cause acid reflux, including tomatoes, and all caffeine-containing products, such as coffee, coke, caffeinated tea, chocolate, and all citrus. I added to my daily diet foods that help control acid reflux, such as bananas, fish, and watermelon, which helps me keep acid reflux at bay.

I hope this helps.

Hello adyinmur

Im very glad there is a professional like you who believe us.

Anyway, i hav halitosis for more than 20 yrs. Ive been to many doctors. But none of them were of help.

As i recognize, only strangers can tell sufferers that they have bb. Because strangers are frank. I have noticed our loved ones are too shy to tell us. Becoz maybe they dont want to hurt our feelings. Ive asked my mother many times. She says she doesnt smell anything. But a while ago on that sameday, i get a lot of reactions from people. Ive started thinking that this maybe paranoia. But no no. Becoz i get reactions everyday. Yes, everyday! Cry cry.

I cudnt smell my breath. This is one statement were doctors ask us. To their response, then there's no problem. Cry cry. Afterall, ive read on medical books that we are immune to our own breath. So its really hard to determine whether we have halitosis or not. This is why strangers come to the rescue. They are honest. They are frank in telling us that we have bb. Some of them laugh at us. Cry cry.

Anyway i just want to give you a head start if you want to study us. My fecal breath, which is often i heard from strangers, is always accompanied by mucus in my throat. This occurs whenever i put something in my stomach. Food and even water. Then the mucus goes up my throat. I spit them out. This mucus is so sticky. Color is clear and sometimes whitish. I can distinguish them from saliva. Becoz saliva is clear and not so sticky. Saliva is loose. This mucus is not.

If you really want to study us, i suggest that u see any of us. Then let him or her spit that mucus. Then study that mucus. What is it made of? Is it made of acid? Is it made of undigested food? Is there feces on it? Is it bile reflux? Becoz right now, we sufferers are guessing.

Remember, this mucus is different from saliva. I suggest that you see our profile to where we are from. And the sufferer who is nearest in your place, take a sample of his mucus.

I dont know if you like my idea. But it is necessary for you to have a living guinea pig, which is us, for you to study.
