I dreamed a dream in time gone by

Post by Ihatemybreath »

When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving

That I was young and unafraid
When dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be payed
No song unsung, no wine untasted

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dreams to shame

Still I dream he'll come to me
That We will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed

Well written. Your poem touches all of us.
The hand we are dealt is fate. How we play the cards is free will.

Love the words to that song! Thanks for posting it. It's so true.

Beautiful song for the underdog. Remember being blown away when Susan Boyle sung it. That song always gives me a chill it's so beautiful.

Beautiful. And so poignant and sad.
“Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry. It merely astonishes me. How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company? It’s beyond me.” ~Zora Neale Hurston
