Just venting.....sigh :(

Post by BBsucks »

I just need to vent so thanks in advance guys :) So I generally cannot smell my breath but thanks to the sweet people I come in contact with daily, I know it is fecal. Anyhow 2 times now in the last month I've gotten a "wiff" of it and it smells like diarrhea!!! HOW DISGUSTING! I'm mortified .... and I wish I had the guts to ask a doctor about this :(

And question....I had a rotten tooth (and I knew that smelled fecal) in my mouth from about 1995-2003. My Mom never took me to the dentist much as a child and I'm convinced this nasty tooth ruined my breath for ever. I finally got a job & insurance in 2003 and when I had that tooth extracted I fully expected my BB to go away.....but of course it didn't :( Do you think my bb is caused by having a rotten tooth in my mouth for so long?

BBsucks, if you havent got the guts to tell a doctor then do you think you deserve to ever be cured? No doubt you havent asked a dentist either (dentists are even harder to speak to because they'll have assistants and there isnt as much privacy unless you ask for it).

If you had a rotten tooth and you left that in for 8 years, then you are quite capable of having other problems that stem back to this neglect.

Dont trust your dentist either, to just point at what could be causing your BB, even if you do manage to tell them about it. You'll have to push them because they'll just have $$ in their eyes and wont really care less about what you go through with your BB.

BBsucks,
First of all, you deserve to be cured whether or not you have the guts to talk to a doctor. We all deserve to be cured.
Secondly, the rotten tooth you had could have caused a problem insofar it could have been a breeding ground for bacteria which would have spread throughout your mouth. Even if the tooth is gone, the bacteria could still be there because nothing has wiped them out. I'm not saying this is the case, only that it's possible. There could well be another underlying cause of your breath odor. For all the different causes of bad breath (and some of the remedies), see Dr. Spiller's website. It's a good starting point for gaining some understanding of this problem.

What a weird and unfair way of looking at things. I'm suprised you would say something like that halitosisux.

People react differently to the situations they are put in. Maybe for you it was possible to overcome your fears and emotions, for others it may not be. That certainly doesn't make them any less deserving to be cured

Yet another pretty arrogant post. You're on a roll man!

Fact is, you're cured. It's easy now to sit back and criticize people for not "having the guts" to get cured too.

You have no idea what others have been through because of this, or what effect it's had on them. Like I said everyone is different. Stop being such an ass, it's really unbecoming

WOW thanks for helping me get up the guts to go to the doctor. Such a wonderuflly encouraging post....NOT.

I finally got up the nerve to ask my dentist at my last appointment and all she said was "There is no cure for halitosis, so be sure to bring mints & gum everywhere." Seriously, that is what she said! UGGG. So that definitely didn't encourage me to ask my MD.

And maybe you've seen earlier posts on this, but I still haven't spoken to my husband about this. And I'm afraid to see a doctor before I can "come out of the closet" about this with my husband. I'm certain he smells it, he's just too sweet to say anything. And we've been together since 2001, so it is VERY awkward for me to just bring this up now :(

What a load of bollocks.

Leonardo, do you really think I've got nothing better to do than sit here and act all smug just because I'm cured and criticise and mock others who arent? You have been on here since FEB 2009 and you've made 28 posts to date.
I've made 1450 posts to date and I'd like to see you do that when you dont even need to be on here anymore and not face any resentments along the way and still feel like you manage to have the respect of most people and know that you did your duty to at least try to help others who are going through the same hell you've been through.

I meant what I said in a postive way. I've never heard anything so lame and I stick by what I said. I meant it purely in a positive sense - too bad your bitterness couldnt see it that way.

I wasn't criticizing your contribution to the forum. I've said a few times I think you've been a big help, and yeah of course I'm sure you're a more valued member here than I am.

That however does not change the attitude you seem to have with those "less courageous" than yourself. You can choose to believe it or not, but it's arrogant to assume someone can react to something the same way you can.

And just because they don't actively search for an answer, does not mean they are any less deserving of one. Once again, you do not know that person's situation, or what ability he/she has.

As for being bitter, I think pretty much anyone who suffers from BB has bitterness of some degree. I'm confident it has not clouded my judgement to make fair and rational decisions though :)

although bbsucks probably should have been to a doctor the chances are it would make no difference whatsoever. probably best to thoroughly go through this forum where the chances of finding a cure are still less than 1% but better than the zero chance you will have for a doctor. i went to 3 different doctors about this and they were all clueless, one even told me to try mouthwash

Halitosisux,
All of your contributions to this forum are well appreciated, but the part about NOT DESERVING a cure is highly inappropriate. Understandibly, we are all sensitive to that. We are not criminals - we all deserve a cure.

WTF Phantasist.
I dont think there are many on here who can say they've tried harder to help as many people on here as I have.
I wouldnt wish this nightmare on my worst enemy and you guys know it.
This is just an opportunity for some of you who have perceived me as arrogant, to kick me in the teeth over a point I made about how LAME it is for someone to say they cant even speak to a doctor about their BB.
Its nothing but an insult to the bravery shown by so many on here, most of whom unfortunately still remain trapped in this nightmare.

I will have to disagree with you on this one halitosisux. Simply cause talking or pointing to someone's BB has been such a taboo in the society, it is difficult for someone to go straight to their doctor and discuss it openly, especially when it is hard to detect your own breath, and people spend a lot of time in doubting/denial at the beginning, then we all know the road. My stupid doctor once told me the ONLY reasons behind BB are sinusitis and teeth, and then she told me I had OCD. Now i know the difference between having so called "OCD" and simply feeling great!

So it is not uncommon for people to lose faith in doctors, be uncomfortable to talk to them about various issues and just try to resolve this on their own. Not everyone is made the same.

But, we all agree that pointing links about halitosis and talking about it with doctors will eventually reduce the number of ignorant medical specialist..?
