Phil :
Streptococcus uberis is one of the main causes of bovine mastitis.
Cow breast is not gut . Strep rattus is very closely related to Strep Mutans which is an oral bacteria , so they are not " gut" probiotic as you believe or try to make others believe .

This what I found in Therabreath website :

Another company has developed a breath mint that features Streptococcus oralis, Streptococcus uberis, and Streptococcus rattus, all targeted at preventing and fighting dental decay and halitosis. Surprisingly, there is even a strain of bacteria called Streptococcus oralis that actually has a whitening effect on the teeth, since it crowds out bad bacteria on the teeth’s surface.

We did cover Evora Plus on our blog because we try to provide coverage of all aspects of halitosis science. That blog has a lot of readThere isn't any attempt on our part to convince you that product is ineffective - I was simply commenting on my belief that some of their product was of bovine origin (and I used the example of Strep uberis because it's classified as a bovine pathogen - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1870484804) . Bottom line, it's important to find the right course of treatment for you. If the bacteria in Evora Plus works for you, then I don't want to discourage you from using it.

Thanks for your question. I am on the road all of next week so don't know if I will have an opportunity to check back soon.

Best of health to everyone.

Phil :
Prior to daily use, we have you brush your mouth and tongue with TheraBreath Toothpaste. This provides two major advantages for colonization. First, the toothpaste works to disrupt ability of bacteria already in your mouth to metabolize. Second, the toothpaste reduces the PH level inside your mouth which is both beneficial to S. Salivarius K12 and M18 AND detrimental to a wide variety of anaerobic bacteria (the bugs that are responsible for the majority of breath odor)
.

1- How can Therabreath toothpaste disrupt ability of bad bacteria to metabolize
2- Many studies said the contrary : the lower the pH of the mouth ( more acidic) , the less bad breath bacteria

http://www.halitosis-research.com/artic ... itosis.pdf
(page 13)

The new strain M18 is just for tooth protection , it does not have much to do with Halitosis , so basically Blis K12 and the new multi symptom probiotic K12+M18 are the same for treating bad breath , and since K12 did not work for many members of this forum who have tried it , I do not expect that the new probiotic will do any better . Anyhow , just wait and see :D

Halitosis-Research is also one of our sites. I am glad you find the information we provide to the community useful. Remember that not every study is definitive. However I will check with our R&D team to get clarification on acidity and try to post it once I hear from them.

For additional science on TheraBreath toothpaste please check our site along with halitosis-research.com and the various published information.

M18 is not just for tooth protection. It has shown efficacy against S. mutans and a variety of other bugs. It even shows promise against some ear ache and sore throat bacteria. There are also some synergistic components of combining the actives in terms of colonization.

Again, it is our wish at TheraBreath to provide a variety of options for the treatment of halitosis and other oral cavity concerns. We hope that, if you are still looking for a solution, you give this product a try. If it does not work, you can always take us up on our 100% money back guarantee.

Best of luck, and be well.

Phil answer these questions

why do Therabreath products not have the ADA seal of approval?

How much chlorine dioxide does Therabreath contain, i thought profresh had the worldwide patent please explain.

Is it true that Dr Katz has had his dental license revoked by the ADA?

My question is how we can prepare the oral cavity for colonization of the Blis K12 , how we can kill the bad bacteria
Great question. Imagine the bacteria is a plant you want to put in your garden. If the garden is already chock full of plants and you just drop your new plant on top it will wither and die. At the same time, if you spray a bunch of herbicide all over your garden to make room for the new plant it won't have a much easier time of it.

The new TheraBreath Multi Symptom Probiotic that is just about to hit shelves is a little different than what you may have seen from either Evora or Periobalance. Our kit comes with a tube of TheraBreath Toothpaste and nine stick packs of probiotic material.

Salivarius K12 and M18 AND detrimental to a wide variety of anaerobic bacteria (the bugs that are responsible for the majority of breath odor).

The dosing involves you using 2 stick packs on the first day and one for days 2-6, with double dosing again on day 7. Each stick contains billions of BLIS bacteria ready to be reactivated when they come into contact with moisture. You mix the product inside the stick pack with water and immediately rinse and gargle with it. We literally flood your oral cavity with fresh, viable probiotic. Product is transfered to your oral cavity surfaces much more efficiently than chewing (you tend to chew with a select portion of your mouth).

In early clinicals, this method of colonization has shown extreme promise and substantial advantages over chewables or dissolving lozenges. Keep in mind that science in the area is ongoing and we learn more every year. However we are extremely confident this method of probiotic colonization of the oral cavity shows the most promise in terms of efficacy.

Hope that helps. Again, I do want to point out that not every treatment works for every person but this strain of probiotic consistently performs. It also happens to show some remarkable promise against biofilm. The proteins that BLIS bacteria secrete when exposed to hostile bacteria have been shown to impact biofilm in clinical trial.

P.S. By the way there isn't really an effective long term method to kill all hostile bacteria. The only long term solution is to manage it's population through hygiene and potentially probiotic treatment. Keep in mind though that bad breath doesn't indicate a lack of proper hygiene. Some people's mouths are more hospitable to certain bad bacteria than others for a variety of reasons (tongue and cavity geography, overall acidity of saliva, certain saliva secretions, predisposition towards dry mouth, etc).
Since bad breath bacteria are gram-negative anaerobes, how can gram-positive bacteria in your pro-biotic products compete? If anything, shouldn't there be products out there that seek to recolonize with gram-negative bacteria that don't produce offensive odors?

Even if you wipe out most of the bad breath bacteria, you still need to have the new bacteria to colonize quickly & that requires a specific adhesion that occurs when the anchors of a bacteria (ligands) attach itself to a specific receptor in the cell walls within the mouth/tongue.

Unless the receptors in our mouths are able to accept the ligands of these pro-biotics, how can they colonize & if they do not really colonize, how can they release lantibiotics?

Phil,
Do I appear angry? lol I'm really not angry just frustrated. If I was angry you wouldn't be seeing LOL in my messages you would be reading the F word!

I hope I at least got your attention. You see there are a few of us on this site that don't have to be here. One being already cured, one being up there in age, and Me.....well I do still have some bb, but I don't have to work or worry about being around to many people to be criticized about my bb. But we chose to stick around b/c if we don't speak out and try to help than god knows how many young people are going to have to go through what we have had to. And it makes me angry that dr.s do not pay attention to this. And it makes me sad that people have come on here so damn desperate that they have wanted to kill themselves and these dr.s can't even give out a few free samples. It is down right sickening!!!

There are many out there for whom K12 has worked. It has worked for me. It's irresponsible to discount M18 and K12 outright. Significant research had gone into K12 as far as I know.

sith,
I looked at www.breathcure.com and couldn't find anything about Katz. Maybe you could copy and paste it on here. Thanks!

You know this whole deal with the breath products could have turned out so
I was not looking to take a 'stage' Susie. I wanted to know how I could help you because it seemed you had a negative experience with our products. I still do not know what that specific problem is. I did see that you were apparently very angry but beyond that I don't know what I can do to help.

In terms of assisting this community, we have sponsored this forum for several months when the admin was looking for support about a year or so back.

TheraBreath is one of the leading research halitosis research bodies in the U.S. Our products may not work for every case, but they work for millions of Americans. No treatment is effective for every case in every situation - not for bad breath or a flu or an earache. You need to try a variety of approaches and find what works for your particular case. We are happy that our product does work for a lot of cases. In the rare instance it doesn't we have a 100% money back guarantee so that it costs you nothing to try.

Again, I am not sure what your particular experience was but I am sorry our product didn't work.
We have people really suffering here, on this site, and many more out there who have not found the site yet.....Therabreath could sponsor this site again to show in a good faith effort that they are really interested in helping in whatever way they can.

Is Therabreath conducting research into products that can help chronic bb sufferers, and into the deep-rooted causes of the heartbreaking condition?

Newbie here.

Firstly, I own shares in Blis Technologies who makes the K12 and M18 probiotics so feel free to take what I say with as big a grain of salt as you wish!

Secondly, I don't have bad breath. Never have. What I did used to have or more correctly get, was four or five colds a year. I have been taking K12 for about five years now and haven't had a cold in that time. I am the 'wellest' person I know!! For the last couple of years I have been taking it every day and I love it. The product I take (Ear Nose and Throat Defense) is only about $7 US for 50 tablets so it doesn't cost much on an annual basis and if it saves me half a day off work a year it has easily paid for itself!

You could check out www.blisk12.com for more info on the probiotic if you like. You will see that it has multiple applications, not just bad breath, and most of the products currently available target things other than bad breath.

If you want to read some studies check out the following list. It is from 2008 but a Google will find more recent studies, especially on M18 (formerly called MIA)
http://blis.co.nz/userfiles/file/Misc/R ... ticles.pdf

Nestle are just finishing a three year clinical trial to determine the efficacy of including K12 in babies milk powder. Interesting aye?!!

Also Google Professor John Tagg. You will see thirty odd years of research about Strep salivarius. Only recently has K12 (and very recently M18) been commercialised.

One thing that may be news to many of you is that K12 (I don't know about M18) is an advanced probiotic. This means it actively targets competing bacteria and kills them by puncturing their cell wall (as I recall). This means they can set up house and grow it rather than just taking whatever space is free. This is important, as is the fact that S. salivarius is the dominant species in the oral cavity.

Sorry to read that in some cases this stuff doesn't work for your bad breath but I am curious if anybody has noticed any other benefits? Fewer colds. Blocked sinuses no longer an issue? Maybe you don't take it long enough to benefit in these ways? I'm not sure if you should (considering how infrequently you take it for BB) but I'm curious anyway.

Right, I shall now prepare myself for a barrage of replies attacking my 'hidden' agenda! ;)
