anaerobic microflora on the tongue and oral malodor
anaerobic microflora on the tongue and oral malodor
"This article provides additional evidence for the recent finding that microbial putrefaction on the tongue is an important factor in the development of bad breath. Volatile sulfur compounds,BANA-positive bacteria on the tongue, tongue coating and deep fissures in the tongue
are all associated with oral malodor and, therefore, appear to be important factors in the halitosis process. Our findings support the idea that the gram-negative anaerobic and asaccharolytic flora play an essential
role in malodor's formation."
"A one-week rinsing and brushing regimen with chlorhexidine gluconate significantly reduced mean volatile sulfur compound levels and mouth and tongue odor"
I do agree about the contribution of anaerobic bacteria on the tongue to halitosis, but somehow no commercial mouthwashes work for me.
