nasal poo odor

Post by fartmouth »

Havent been to the site in a while, still surviving life at my minumum potential. Good lookin guy, athlete, 24 years old with no social life.

Feelin pretty low lately, just came on to see if anyone can point me to any recent info relating to this poo stench when exhaling through nose, even with mouth closed(since age 15). Dont get it twisted its totally noticeable when speaking aswell, So pretty much breathing and talking in general is demoralizing around people.

after 9 years of living with this stench and all my experiences, i really dont believe my mouth has any factor in this odor. When one speaks, as they exhale speaking, air is passed through both mouth and nose simultaneously .... its easy to see this in cold temperatures. in my case i really believe its the nasal air that is the stench only..

ask me any questions

If it really only comes out of your nose, doesn't that mean it HAS to be something specifically in the sinuses? Have you ever gauged reactions only from the mouth?

Like, you cover your nose, or block off the airways by putting your tongue in front of the sinus passages in the throat.

i went to an ENT like age 18 .... he fed somekind of snake cam up my nose that reached the back of my throat. Found no abnormalities in my sinuses, they are fine. So thats when i decided to remove my tonsils, hopin that would have been the problem, which was a complete waste.

of coarse ive gauged mouth breath lol, its kinda hard not to living with this nightmare. I never have the general smell of BB, just feces stench through nose. i can get little whiffs of it sometimes when im real steady and still. To this day i still hear comments, directly and indirectly, regarding me farting and smelling like shit

I too get this smell through the nose, but only after drinking a lot of caffeine. I don't normally drink coffee, but say I have a large cup, the smell will start an hour or so later. Same with other high caffenated drinks like diet mountain dew, etc. Its like a gas that rises from the stomach and comes out through the nose. Ive even smelled it on my shirt before when I am taking it off because the nose naturally points down toward the shirt.

Unfortunately, giving up caffeine does not solve my problem. I still have bb when I don't drink it. It does, however, solve that distinct nasal odor problem for me.

you should see another ENT specialist.

I cannot exhale through my nose because it smells like farts/shit.

I'm getting my tonsils removed (just to cure ongoing tonsil stones).

There is definetely bacteria in your sinuses to be causing that stench.

I mouth breath and seem to only just get through the days.

Although I still have a problem with a sudden phantom shit odor that causes people to think i've shit myself, then 5 minutes later all is well again....

It's such a nasty thing to have. I pray you get sorted.

Fartmouth, It sounds like our smells are similar. For me, any type of large caffeine quantity will cause it or lots of chocolate. For me the bad breath is constant, but this nasal smell is only with the caffeine.

I am convinced that I have LPR/Reflux. I am still trying to get diagnosed. ENT said tonsils are healthy. I am H.Pylori negative. Metrodonidozole did not help, even when I was actually on the pills. Was referred to gastro: just had an endoscopy last week which came up as "normal". This threw me off. But I think that I have non-acid reflux or some other type. I will continue testing.

I think some foods such as trigger foods (caffeine, chocolate) relax the esophagal sphincter and allow the acids to reach the nose/mouth more than normal. My mouth always has a sour apple feeling which I believe is from reflux. When its nice and wet, Im o.k. But when its dry, its horrible. Like when Im outside, or nervous in a meeting. Other people just get dry mouth, but no odor. My dry mouth can knock someone over.

Same here, when i get nervous I get so dry and I think thats when i get nasal bb too, and when it's hot outside it gets pretty bad.

Back from Surgery!! Tonsillectomy

Post by Born To Suffer »

Hey guys,

Back from surgery and I'd thought I'd do a quick update while it's sill fresh in my head.
As many of you know I had my wisdoms removed, and it did improve my breath a lot. But at the same time I have yellow stuff leaking from the wisdom site. As it turns out, it wasn't from the wisdom BUT FROM THE TONSILS.
I went in for surgery yesterday and came back today. The ENT said I was strong, I didn't even use the morphine, which I totally forgot about. I was even smiling, which was a first since he had met patients with a gloomy face after tonsillectomy. What can I say I feel so dizzy, but am in no pain. The ENT said the pain would pick up around day 3-5. Well I'm very nervous about that.
I asked about the tonsils and they were badly infected. He said that the crypts weren't too deep, and wasn't infected badly. However he did say on the left side when he picked up the tonsils there was a HUGE infection. It was all yellow, no wonder why I'm not cured from wisdoms. He said it used to be a fungus but now it's classified as a bacterial infection. He said there are no antibiotics against it. He couldn't 100% confirm if the infection would go away, because the area is still raw. Oh bloody hell. I hope my body fights it. There is a name for it, I forgot what he said, but I'll ask him again next time I see him.
As for adenoids, apparently when you get older the adenoids disappears by itself. He said he couldn't see anything.

My breath seems to have improved a bit, but still too early to say.

The smell used to be very fishy, like rotten fish, but at times when I stick my tongue out, it smells like fart/poo. I just hope it's not h.plyori or some other shit like TMAU.
Now: I don't know what it smells like because I have a cold so my nose is kinda blocked.
Well whatever I'm so sick of bb, I just want to go die.

Its most likely caused by anaerobic bacteria in your sinus passages or somewhere along GI Tract. Maybe you can try the SCD diet (Can take weeks or months to see improvements). Bacteria love to feed on carbs and sugars so maybe a diet change would help you.You can also go to doc and get tested for SIBO or get a nasal culture and get antibiotics. There can be alot of other reasons but maybe some of these suggestion might work for you.

I have the same nasal odor which has also affected my life. Its definetly not easy but keep on fighting anyway.

hey fartmouth you are the same age as me. Man I can't even imagine living with this for that long but at this rate it looks like it for me. My nasal odor has been with me for 5 months now, but I think it may last for the rest of my life.

I also have a nasal odor but I don't really know what it smells like to other people. Sometimes I smell a fart like odor, and other times its some odd odor I can't describe. Like I can even smell it on the neck of my shirt sometimes since the air blows directly from my nostrils right to that area all day. Its an odd smell to me and I can also smell it sometimes when I floss.

Most people discount that the problem may be from INSIDE the body and not mouth or sinuses. I know it is rare for it to be in the body, but it is worth looking into. That is my theory anyways for my smell. If you can afford it get an endoscopy or some sort of tests run. Maybe see a GI and see what they can check for.

I can't afford an upper gi endoscopy right now, but that is what I would want to do if I could afford it. Toxins in the blood stream can cause us to breathe bad odors through our lungs. Same with some digestion problems or liver problems. So if you ruled out mouth, and sinus then start looking inside your body.
