Yes, but I read of four people who claim to be cured by metronidazole on the long run. And in cases where bb came back after stopping to take metronidazole maybe other causes such as tonsils, wisdom teeth and pnd may be the reason for bb. For example halitosisux bb came back after his course of metronidazole and he later found out that one of his wisdom teeth was the culprit.Source wrote:I have also read about Metronidazole and people experiencing drastic results, but most of them had their BB come back shortly after stopping.
That's quite interesting.Source wrote:The thing about white coated tongues is that not everyone who has a coated tongue suffers from BB. I personally knew a few people back in high school who had pretty much white tongues but no hint of BB at all.
I'd recommend you to open up a separate thread where you describe your case. Write down as much information about you and your medical examinations as possible. If you visit doctors always ask for a copy of test results.
What have you already done?
- Have dentists judged your dental status as good? (if it's okay for you make photos of your teeth and tongue and upload them)
- Do you floss regularly (and the right way, google for it)?
- Do you have had a professional cleaning of your teeth done? (btw: didn't help me at all)
- When you rub your finger around the places of your wisdom teeth is there smell on your fingers after waiting some seconds for the saliva to dry?
- Did you have an x-ray done of your teeth? (upload it)
- Have you been tested for Helicobacter Pylori (GP / test on your own by contacting a laboratory for doing a stool test).
- Have you had a swab taken from your tongue (ENT)?
- Have you had the condition of your tonsils judged by an ENT (hopefully not misjudged like some of my doctors did ).
- Have you had a sinus CT scan? (upload it)
- Do you think you have food intolerances? You might want to tested for fructose, gluctose, lactose, sorbit and gluten.
- Do you think you have allergies? You might want to test for this.
- If your doctors can't find anything being wrong with you, believe that you really have a bad breath problem and can't explain it you should ask them for a course of metronidazole (take a copy to your GP/ENT of this official document of the State of Victoria that suggests trying this).
- Is there something else you suspect?
And it's important to have a person who answers you honestly if you ask him/her about the state of your breath. It's partly possible to get indication of your breath smell on your own, but it's not reliable, often misleading and you will get mad sooner or later. Also there are a lot of doctors who won't take you seriously if you don't say them that your bad breath has been confirmed by other people.
If you brush and floss your teeth regularly and correctly there is no reason to feel ashamed for this medical condition. Be open towards your doctors when trying to solve this problem. Doctors hear awkward problems such as bad breath all the time and you shouldn't be the first person who came up with bad breath towards your ENT.
Also having health insurance and money is great for solving this problem. If you want to get rid of this as soon as possible you should explore in as many causes as possible at the same time. Start with the most likely causes and work your way towards more unlikely reasons.
If you can't find the reason go to a specialist.
I recommend visiting Aydin Murat in Istanbul.
He has very good knowledge about this embarrassing issue and won't rip you off like some breath clinics seem to do.
