New Belgian Documentary - Looking for brave people who want to tell their story
Post content: Hello everybody,
My name is Flo and I am an editor at the Belgian television production company Sputnik Media.
Currently, we are working on a new documentary. The documentary is kind of a reaction against the aesthetic perfectionism that is prevalent in our society. We want to eliminate prejudices by informing people about existing conditions and we want to make people aware of their often wrong impressions about people based on their appearance.
Therefore, our host (a well-known Belgian public figure) will conduct an interesting experiment: although she is quite concerned about her looks and appearance, she won't clean herself, won't wash her hair and body, won't use any cosmetics etc during a whole month.
During that month, she will also meet some very interesting people with intriguing stories. Like that, we want to inform people and try to reduce the erroneous preconceptions about certain conditions.
Therefore, we would love to arrange a meeting between our host and someone with TMAU, if possible, someone from (or near) Belgium... (Nonetheless: we are interested in EVERY story!)
Do you want to share your story with us? Do you want to help us by introducing us to others or to TMAU specialists? Or do you have any questions, doubts...? Please don't hesitate to contact me: I will be happy to help you!
Kind regards and I wish all of you all the best,
Flo

Two people from this site met few weeks ago and posted that they could not smell each other That can only happen if they are producing same compound.
if someone does not have bad gums, tonsills or adenoids and still have bb then there is 99% chance it's tmau.
Once you finish with your archenemy mucus let me know.

If two people can't smell each other it's because they don't or didn't have halitosis at the time. There is no need to add anything else to the equation.Atrial wrote:NOTANYMORE wrote:Atrial has TMAU so now is her chance to be a star!

That can only mean that the TMAU is either intermittent or happens to be at low severity at that moment.

Atrial, like Notanymore said, if two people from here can't smell each other, it's because they don't smell. They're halitophobics. The smell only exists in their heads. They have this delusional idea that every little movement someone does is a direct response to their smell. When in reality it didn't even have anything to do with smell to begin with. To someone with genuine halitosis like me, reading about all these "reactions" is laughable. For example, the "nose touching" so many on here keep going on about. It's nonsense, it has nothing to do with the way they smell.Atrial wrote:If you don't believe me meet someone from this site in your area and you will not be able smell each other.
Anyone can speculate the only way you will believe it is if you experience it yourself.

whatdidido, did your ENT confirm that he/she could smell your bad breath? For that matter, has anyone? All the other things (nose rubs, coughing, comments, backing away) is really just an interpretation. You really need for someone to directly tell you to your face that you DO have bad breath.whatdidido wrote:the confirmation from my own ENT
That's where I am right now. I get reactions every time I speak but have not actually been able to get an actual confirmation from anyone. I really think that it is easier for someone to just lie than to deal with the awkwardness of telling you that your breath stinks. I am in the process of trying to meetup with others from this site but I'm not sure it looks promising. Many others have met before and don't smell anything. Maybe your right ... that people who have bad breath can't smell others with bad breath. Maybe the answer is to just ask people who DON'T have bad breath.
I'm so desperate that I am actually thinking of going into the city with a clipboard and stopping people, acting like I am doing a survey. Something like, "Hi, I am doing a survey based on a study of halitosis. We have been asked not to brush our teeth and have people rate our breath on a scale from 1 to 10. It will only take 10 seconds and you will be compensated $1 for you input."
What do you think? Am I nuts?

Corpse, I WISH I was halitophobic, how awesome would that be lol. But no I'm not, as my bb has been confirmed by some people. I truly do believe that some ppl can smell it/ and others cant because I don't get reactions 100% of the time from every single person I come into contact to.

Lol honestly, thats better then anything I've been able to come up with! Like you said, people would rather lie then be uncomfortable so at least you would get honest answers. But again, i think some people are able to smell it and others aren't. I smell bad breath from strangers all the time but a friend will make a comment about someones breath and i won't have noticed or thought that persons breath smelled. This is all confusing shit, and no one has the right answer to it, as I'm sure we all have different cases and circumstances. So again, for anyone on this site who believes just because i wasn't able to smell someones bad breath and they weren't able to smell mine, means that neither of us have bad breath and we have halitophobia...just stop! Your wrong! This site is meant to be a place where we can get support and feel ok for the time being, not to read that I'm full of shit and imagining my symptoms.
Stillhoping: Wouldn't that be great if we were halitophobic! Id be able to sleep better at night knowing that people aren't making fun of me and automatically assuming that I'm dirty and unhygienic.
