Lick wrist test accuracy for BB?

Post by rara44 »

Hi all,

New poster but long time lurker.

Are there people who leave a foul smell when doing the lick test but don't have bad breath?

I've only asked a few people directly about BB and can't tell if they are being nice etc about it. I know I should just ask more people but always bit anhious asking to breath in to someone...

Well I asked my mother father sisters and they told me that I don’t smell. I had tonsils Stones which I discovered a few years back, I was so ashamed all the time that now that I don’t have tonsil stones I thought my breath still smelled Bad. When I lick it’s sour cause of my lpr, but that’s it. I try to be normal again and to get over it. Everyone’s mouth smells bad sometime in their lives, I don’t want to be obsessed with this cause I m losing the meaning of my life.

Lick wrist test is not accurate. They will smell bad eventhough people don't have bb.

Our case is different.

I don’t think they lie, my parents and sisters saw how devastated and sad I am and they told me we will go to any doctor you want to fix this problem, but they told me also that they don’t smell anything, and it is weird that it happens only when I am at work.they even cane to my work place to see if I had bad breath and I didn’t!!! It is phycological! I had tonsil stones before and I had B.B. now that I don’t have I still think that my breath smells pretty bad. I also tested for helicobacter and it is positive...I’ll star therapy pretty soon. Now my parents test me for B.B. always when I meet them so we can check it out anf found the cause if it is a problem. Till now no B.B. will see... I hope I get over this thing!!

Mitsaki, what reactions are you going off of? I mean what makes you believe that people find your breath offensive? Do they hand you gum? Do they cover their nose? If you see people sneezing or coughing or even backing away these can easily be reflexes I do all these things sometimes without thinking even rubbing my nose sometimes but I don’t mean to do it it’s just a reflex. Please make sure you don’t get paranoid about this because it’s very easy to confuse real bad breath with a psychological one especially since you said you had bb before but now it might really be gone. If I were you I would muster up the courage to ask a colleague you trust (very hard to do but very worth it) or even just talking to people normally to see if people give obvious reactions such as handing you chewing gum or saying something smells to me those are the reactions to look out for that suggest there is something real there... I hope I am not offending anyone by saying this I just think we can’t lose our minds believing any and every reaction, it hurts just as badly as having bb doesn’t it? Having said this some people on here do report that they believe they have something that makes people react to them by coughing and sneezing but i’m Not sure if it’s because of bb.

Hello

I get the same reactions too. My mother said she doesn't smell anything. But in the ouside world, i am being mocked everywhere because of my bb. This is no longer unusual for me. I don't need to convince anyone that i have bb. I know myself.

So where can I find information on why my tongue/saliva or whatever smells but potentially doesn't cause bb?

I'm going to a bad breath specialist doctor/dentist in few days but would like to be as educated as possible as it's a very expensive session so don't want to waste time going over stuff that I can find online haha.

Thanks for advice

Hi Ricky!
Have you asked anyone else except your mother? I have asked 5 people and they told me I m fine. My mother says it’s natural to have bab breath sometimes cause of the food i eat(onions, garlic etc) or if I have a lot of hours to eat, and she also thinks it’s is phycological issue, cause of the tonsil stones I had a few years back. I have my personal odor my husband says like everyone.

I am awkward and the people around me get that I am awkward. That’s why they put their hands in nose and mouth.

The thing is that we must deal with this issue, if I can’t deal with it, I ll probably go to a therapist, cause if it does smell bad sometimes I must accept it. This is who I am, I have my husband my family and my friends by me no matter what. Even if you do have one or two persons close to you speak to them about your problem, maybe it is not so bad as you think! We put ourselves in so much stress that we enlarge the problem than minimize it. I have some people (coworkers) that stress me out very much about this problem, I try to IGNORE THEM! They are no better than me...
I tell myself that everyday when I m stressed out!

I hope I helped, i d like to know if you have talked to anyone else except your mother...

Hi Lolla,

Well my coworkers offended me in the past, now they don’t but sometimes they offer me gum or they put their hand in nose. When they do that, I m starting to panic, I feel very very awkward, I want to leave and go to my house... I but I can’t of course. And then i don’t speak to them and I m isolating. I know this is very bad, and I try to stop it now that I talked to my folks open about this. I was thinking to speak to them about this, but I don’t want them to cheat chat over my back after. They are gOssipers,so I have told them that I have issues with my stomach and my gut ,that I really have. I don’t know if they get this but I believe they are understanding...

Hello

There was one in this forum who said, "if you want to know you have bb, ask a child." Well, i already asked a child before i even heard that statement. I asked my nephew. His reactions was laughing very hard. And he said yes he smelled something. Like a fecal he said.

The first statement from a medical profession that i trust was with my dentist. I made a lot of visits to him. He did a lot of things. Lastly, he said, "let's make an x ray for all your teeth." And finally he said, "all your teeth are fine and we already did a lot of things but i still smell something." He said, "you need to go to a specialist."

After that, i went to a lot of specialist but they seem of no help.

I trust that dentist. And i also trust myself. I do not need to convince anyone that i have bb. The negative comments that i receive from people, including my nephew is already convincing for me. But i never lose hope. There is still one thing that i haven't tried. And that is diet. Diet is a long duration. I still can't afford it.

Diet is the number one in this! I started with cutting all the carbs! I ate only a little buckwheat or jasmine rice but only one large spoon.
A lot of cooked veggies and meat. Make a plan for the week. Go to the your groceries store and to your local butcher. Start with chicken and red meat. Take a look at Mediterranean cooking recipes, I m from Greece so it’s very easy for me to cook with a lot of veggies. Stop all sugary and sweetener products. Stop all fruits cause of fructose.Stop drinking alchocol and coffee. Water a lots of water.A glass of wine is fine one or two times a week. Also I want to ask you about your bowel movements, do you go regularly? Those with fecal breath have constipation usually. My gastro told me that. You need to go to a gastroenterologist and talk to. Maybe you have helicobacter pylori. I have it and now I m starting a therapy. Don’t spend to much time in the internet looking for solutions, you can’t do it alone! You need support, do you live with your mother? Tell her to cook you as lean as she can or cook yourself. Start to notice which food is bothering you. Maybe dairy products too. I stopped them now too for a couple of weeks. Speak to your mother about what you are dealing with your coworkers and peoples reactions. Tell her to check for B.B. every day after starting the diet. Take your life to your hands!! I m starting to do that, cause this thing with B.B. will “Kill” us inside. I also lost 17 kilos. I am at the kilos I was in high school! Yeahhh! One good thing right?
If you want any recipes send me in inbox I ll send you links.

Hello mitsaki

Are you already cured from bb?

I am negative in h pylori. But that was a long time ago. I am also allergic to chickens.

Well, there are really a lot of ways to diet. It is sometimes difficult to buy all these stuff and do the procedures in chopping, cooking and all kinds of procedures. I plan on watermelon only. There are a few testimonies already about that.

Hello, Ricky

No I haven’t been cured but I think I m getting there, my problem is lpr. Acid is coming up in my mouth, my taste is bad and I know then that B.B. is coming back.not always,as I thought I had 24 hour constant B.B.
I follow the diet I mentioned but when I cheat the B.B. is there. I started the triple therapy for hpylory with antibiotics. I also take probiotics. I hope the hp leaves from my system once and for all. It’s a cause of B.B. also. Will see.

It is very hard to change your diet from all the foods you like! But I don’t want to spend my life crying and being anxious because of this. So I did this change and I m lot better, my family supports me so I m moving forward!

If you wann talk send me a message.

My theory is your member telling the truth.. some how they cannot smell it (due to same gene ?) While others can..
