I`ve had endoscopy twice & I`ve asked those doctors to do a bacterial culture from my stomach sample but they didn`t. I don`t think they took a sample in the first place. If you don`t mind, I`d like to know what kind of odor do you think you have? I can no longer smell mine eversince my pnd was cured. Thanks.
I believe my odor is fecal. It's really difficult to smell. I smelt it once while drinking. It most resembles flatulence, I guess you could say.

I just thought the following was kinda interesting concerning h. pylori:

"One can test noninvasively for H. pylori infection with a blood antibody test, stool antigen test, or with the carbon urea breath test (in which the patient drinks 14C- or 13C-labelled urea, which the bacterium metabolizes producing labelled carbon dioxide that can be detected in the breath). However, the most reliable method for detecting H .pylori infection is a biopsy check during endoscopy with a rapid urease test, histological examination, and microbial culture. None of the test methods are completely failsafe. Even biopsy is dependent on the location of the biopsy. Blood antibody tests, for example, range from 76% to 84% sensitivity. Some drugs can affect H. pylori urease activity and give "false negatives" with the urea-based tests."

Why didn't they do a culture? That's the best method for detecting. *sigh* Sometimes doctors really piss me off. What do they care? It's not their money.

It's better than going into GNC, where as soon as you walk in the door all the employees ask you all these questions and follow you around! With my stank breath "yeah I need chlorophyl, odor cleanse, parsley extract, smartmouth..." all while they pinch their nostrils. I HATE going there.

We have no medical malpractice law in my country so doctors here can do whatever they want. They don`t like it when the opinion comes from their patients. I guess they want me to sit around looking dumb following whatever they say. In fairness though, not all the doctors that I went to are like that it just happened that those doctors that I had an endoscopy turned out to be jerks. Heck, they don`t even recognize SIBO as a disease, instead they kept on insisting that it`s IBS & acid reflux. Another funny thing`s that in both endoscopies they never admitted that I have bad breath #-o

Sorry to hear that JC.

Luckily, my GI specialist is a really nice guy. I went to him before solely about bb and he ordered several tests just to check and see if anything was wrong. I think he ordered a barium swallow and something else involving the x-ray.

I went to him again just two says ago about "acid relux" or a feeling of something in the middle of my chest that comes and goes. He seemed geniunely concerned and said we should definitely scope the area. I asked him whether we could also sample fo h.pylori and he said he could certainly do that during the scope. When I told him more about my symptoms and how it seems to occur more often at night he also ordered an test for my gallbladder.

I will let you know how everything turns out as you unfortunately weren't able to get the best method of testing done for yourself. I really do hope they find something; I think anyone who's ever been "ill" does.

I wish you the best of luck, Twilight. It`s nice to hear that there are doctors like that. I hope he figures it out somehow.

I am almost 100% sure that TMAU is my problem. I've been staying away from the high choline foods and have had no reactions. The other day I had eggs and even I could smell my foul breath, and my hubby kept asking who farted. He hadn't said that in a long time. Also, my vaginal discharge smelled the next day and that had gone away with the diet too. So NO MORE eggs and other high choline foods for me!!! I am going to write more later. I'm going on vacation until Monday...

IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING LUCK WITH THIS???????? OR EVEN TRYING THIS??????

The thing is you can't do a reduced sulfur and a reduced choline diet at the same time... There'd be nothing to eat! They arent exactly the same are they? I'm trying the sulfur first, since my breath smells like sewage gas.
