Phantasist wrote:Dr. Katz in California claims that sodium lauryl sulfate, which is in most toothpastes to make it foam, feeds the anaerobic bacteria. However, I don't know if this is proven.

1- alcohools
2- anti inflamatuar (benzidamin HCl)
3- SLS (sodium Lauryl Sulphate)
4- Sodium hydroxyde
5- Flavor, saccharin or any sweetener
6- Menthol, Aspartame, Xylitol, Sorbitol, Lecithine, any carbonate

Each may be potential cause of halitosis or may support one of halitosis mechanisms within hours after they used.

@phantasist : thank you for the reply, i appreciate it :) i also read your reply to the pm i sent you, thanks :)

@ dr.aydinmur : hi, i noticed that the list you made are ingredients found in, oh, about 99.9% of toothpastes sold everywhere in the world. you also mentioned in previous posts that hydrogen peroxide is not for long term use and should not be used for more than two weeks --- meaning, even a homemade toothpaste of baking soda mixed with hydrogen peroxide is not an option.

that being said, what would you recommend we use? is there any toothpaste out there that does not contain any of the ingredients you listed above? what do you recommend to your patients?

thank you sir and looking forward to your response :)
