Fecal Breath = Stomach problem?

Post by Troy »

At the moment I'm trying to find all possible causes for my bb and go discarding one by one. I'm pretty sure I have fecal breath. I got bad breath coming out of my nose too. In the past i thought my problem could have something to do with pnd but recently I've been doing nasal irrigation with salt and baking soda and my pnd is practically gone, yet i still have fecal breath. I've been doing some research on the internet and almost every article I read on fecal breath says the problem is probably coming from the gut area. Could this be the problem? Who should i see to have my gut area looked at?
Thanx.

PND is probably just another symptom, not the cause :/

Ya I dont think that PND is the cause of the BB, but just another annoying symptom that may further intensify the BB. The problem with me I think is with the gut area.

Fact: fecal breath doesn't mean it's from the gut. Sulphur compounds etc etc from oral area can be perceived as fecal.

Still, if you're curious about the state of your digestive system, there are loads of things you can check... small intestine bacterial overgrowth... GERD... hernias... diversions... leaky gut etc etc... Just go to your gastroenterologist and have it checked out.... with methods such as hydrogen breath test, barium meals, gastroscopy, colonoscopy etc etc.

I’m so tired of hearing people say that BB comes from the gut, or PND. Chronic Halitosis is caused by the over population of bacteria in the mouth. So no special diet, colon cleaning, nasal irrigation, dairy free diet, detox flushing, mouth wash or toothpaste is going to get rid of this problem.. we need a cure weather its a daily tablet a monthly injection to reduce the amount of bacteria in our mouth - Sorry im just venting!!

You sound pretty confident.

How about the fact that the last couple days my gas has been atrociously bad (hydrogen sulfide again) along with having an upset stomach every morning.. Coincidentallly, I got some pretty solid reactions today and I'm 110% certain that I'm not subconsciously farting.

With smells this horrible in my colon, I have absolutely no doubt that my blood is picking it up as well and carrying it around my body.. say, right into my mucous, which of course is a problem for me too.. This isn't just a theory, .. It makes a lot of sense.
The source of YOUR halitosis may be strictly oral, but in my case and some others, I'm convinced otherwise.

I seemed to be doing okay while I was on the once a day probiotic.. That ran out several days ago and I'm seeing a return of the rotten eggs shit.. It really is like my body can't handle food like it used to :x

Other strong scents can make me briefly be able to smell my own bb. For example, if I walk past someone with perfume etc, it can smell like shit to me, for a few seconds. Seems the other strong scent is mixed up with the constant strong scent in my nasal area, and somehow makes me aware of that one. I always double check when this happens and can then only smell the perfume or whatever strong scent it was. I've heard this phenomena from other bb sufferers too... ...so, the other strong scent probably just makes you aware of your own scent, it doesn't trigger the bb.

I've been told by my mom and close friends that I do not have bad breath. So it's not 24-7....

But when I'm very hungry and after I've eaten, I get really bad crappy breath. I've noticed at the last couple of social events of people turning away from me and rubbing their noses. Tonight, I went out to dinner and was having a ball chatting away. On the way home, was still chatting away until I sat down on the train and then the conversation I was having with this woman halted and I realized that she kept looking away from me. Bad crappy breath...It has happened so often, after a meal or when I have an empty stomach, that I think it's gotta be related to my digestion system.

I nearly cried when I got off the train. Just so frustrating.

I feel your pain

I am a 37 year old woman. I do believe I suffer from BB. I have been told in the past. I have the "turn head" while talking, rubbing the nose. Not all the time, but quite often. I have no idea what my problem is.

I got married in 2005. I never mentioned this to my husband, because He never mentioned it, so I figure hey...I must be okay, or maybe I was crazy to begin with. I get married, move away from home, have to two beautiful kids. I go home on a visit and am told by a family member that I have BB. I was so shamed.... once again. I have good hygiene...i brush, rinse all the above. I'm thinking to myself, why doesn't my very own husband say anything to me. So I take it to him. He denies that he ever smelled anything... EVER. and then says He is the closest one to me, and he would know. Im like...what in the world is going on. who is Fu*&%$*ing with me.... I told him not to worry about my feelings... they wont be hurt...I just need to know so that I can the the proper steps.

Prior to marriage, I had my tonsils removed, saw two ENT specialist, had a colonoscopy, and had a period where I suffered from sinusitis back to back...This one doctor even had me talk DEAD in his face and said he could not smell it....

I thought am i losing my mind? People can't possibly be rubbing their nose for nothing.

So confused...and so glad I found this site..

HAHAH same here

Im pretty confident that our problem comes from the stomach or some lower to the stomach area, when I use flushes and cleanse my systmen althou i still have the fecal breath its a lot lot less

I think that for those of us with fecal breath we should change the name of our desise insted of calling it BB we should call it somthing else, that's the only way it's ever gonna be taking serious, and maybe someone will try to look for a cure for it

i think it's something we will never really know the answer to unless we are brave enough and clever enough to ask and get straight answers from the people who we think are reacting to our breath.

also what was the circumstance when you were told by a family member you had bb? was it morning right after you brushed? had you eaten or was your mouth dry? what did they say the smell was?
