This post may be offensive to some. You have my apologies in advance. I was unsure about a better way to make the point below.
Theory:
Broad-spectrum mouthwashes, in the absence of immediately repopulating the mouth with friendly bacteria, are futile, as the chemical rinses leave the cleansed mouth vulnerable to the lingering offensive bacteria or yeast (fungus) and the rapid return of bb.
I see a similarity between using antimicrobial mouthwash (without properly repopulating the mouth) and women using chemical douches, see URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/douche (excerpt below).
Question: What is the best way, after thoroughly cleaning the mouth, to effectively repopulate with friendly microorganisms? I think this is a key step toward fresher breath. Harsh, chemical mouthwashes can wipe out a friendly oral population due to collateral damage. Try cleaning without these. Eat yogurt with Lactobacillus acidophilus, to create and defend a healty mouth.
From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/douche
In May 2007, 40 women were enrolled in a open-label trial. The women all had bacterial vaginosis as defined by Amsel's criteria and were treated for 6 days with a douche containing Lactobacillus acidophilus. Vaginal smears were collected from the patients and analyzed according to Nugent's criteria at the time of diagnosis, after 6 days of treatment, and again at 20 days after the last treatment. At the same times, determination of vaginal pH and a Whiff test were performed. RESULTS: The Nugent score decreased significantly from bacterial vaginosis or an intermediate flora toward a normal flora during treatment, and remained low during the follow-up period for almost all of the patients, indicating bacterial vaginosis in 52.5% and in 7.5% of the patients before treatment and at follow-up, respectively. After treatment, significant decreases in vaginal pH were observed, to less than pH 4.5 in 34/40 women, and the odor test became negative in all of the patients. CONCLUSIONS: In this preliminary study, treatment of bacterial vaginosis with a vaginal douche containing a strain of L. acidophilus contributed to the restoration of a normal vaginal environment

Not sure about the mouthwash bit. I have used chemical mouthwashes more than 5 times in my life, and my breath is as bad as can be. I always see that advise geared towards moderate BB sufferers.
Still testing the yogurt. I may not be giving myself a fair shot, because I've chosen yogurt with sugar, instead of plain white yogurt. Also, not sure if I should just eat/drink tons, or just keep it to a serving a day.

yeah i agree. it is very easy to fix a vaginal odor problem with yogurt literally. but i never understood why yogurt does nothing for the breath. i mean i've been eating all kinds or yogurt and it wasn't until i started on the K12 s. salivarius lozenges from dr. katz that i wake up in the morning and my breath doesn't smell like i swallowed a used tampon. sorry to be so graphic but, it was that bad.
i don't think the bacteria in the yogurt we eat is aggressive enough to fight the bb bacteria that has adapted to the landscape of the mouth.
