what are the thought on the "smart mouth" mouthwash also?

because of habituation you cant smell your own breath simply by breathing, then smelling right away. What I've found to work is if you first breathe out, then breathe some fresh air, then your breath, you get a pretty good sample of it.

How i do it is I stick my tongue out as far as it will go and make an "aahhh" sound, then breathe out as hard and deep as I can (using my vocal chords as my breath seems to smell worse when i talk than when i breathe) then quickly step back or turn my head sideways and breathe some fresh air, then move back into my breath. What happens is your nose has time to dissasociate itself from your own breath by breathing in the fresh air, so when you smell your own breath it is foreign. This has to be done pretty damn quickly though, otherwise it doesnt work.
