Sinus Infection and Pnd

Post by prey »

Hello everybody again me
I found a forum were people with nose, throat and ear problems ask questions to ent specialist.
A girl said that she has constant pnd, throat and sinus problems and that she feels like something is stuck in her throat and that she has bad breath.
The ent responded that she might have chronic sinus infection which cause pnd to constantly drip in the throat, and that the bacteria that lives without oxygen feed on mucus in throat and sinuses. The first thing to do is to evaluate if the mucus is infected with bacteria,if it is then you must take antibiotics for at least 6 weeks because it takes long time to reach the sinuses.Has anyone taken antibiotic for atleast 6 weeks?
The antibiotics depend on wich infection occurs in your sinuses.
My parents decided that i spend a couple days in hospital to do a complete checkup of my nose, sinuses, and throat, maybe then they will find something.I remember that all my problems with sinuses and pnd stared when i went in the mountains without my snowcap.yep i was the only boy not having one. :x
Sorry for bad english.
Goodbye 8)

Not everyone with postnasal Drip actually have bad breath. I think overall we must lack something in our bodies that we need to fight bad breath.

The sinusitis if not treated properly becomes chronic and the constant pnd becomes infected.4 years ago my doctor didnt give me antibiotics because i was too young and he think that it will go away only with some allergy sprey. The doctor was very old and he said that the antibiotics are not neccesary. All these years took me to realize that allergy isnt the cause of pnd :x
thanks for the reply DRASTIC

Good post 'prey' 8)

I've been to the ENT a few times but they have never taken a sample of the mucous to check for bacterial infection. And I've never been on antibiotics for longer than 10 days.

As for the immune system, I think it might be connected to some of us missing IgA. IgA is an antibody that normally lives in the mucous membranes (oral, nasal, digestive, urogenital tract) and protects them from bacteria.

IgA deficiency is quite common (1 in 400 or something). It was mentioned in an earlier post too.

If possible, ask your doctor to test for this.

Thanks Larc
How is your pnd?Because mine is very sticky and thick,it so sticky that if i would sell it to a glue company i would become a milionaire.
If they dont find a infection i will test this IgA.(maybe i am the chosen one :P )
If after that dont find anything i will go for the tonsils.
I dont know when i will do all these test because i have school.

PREY, hi, you sound very young, in high school? Please keep us posted re. your complete check up. I been to a pnd doctor only once and he only put camera up nose and gave me a spray. Please let us know what tests you did and results I might make another appointment with different ent.

PREY you said your problems started because you went to mountain without snowcap, you most likely made your immune system come down and somehow this is what affected you this way. You are very fortunate your parents are behind you all the way and they want to help, I can assume they don't deny you have bb and if so then you have a good chance of finding out what works for you by having your parents monitor your bb. My mom and siblings deny smelling my bb because they don't want to hurt my feelings and friends do the same but I can assure you it is better to have someone who cares about you telling you the truth. Good luck and keep those grades up!

Halihope what did your doctor told that you have?
Our doctor from a forum told that with this cronic sinusitis the bacterial flora becomes imbalanced,so thats why we have bb,and we need a longtime treatment with the antibiotic
I TRIED to write them about my problem but they are on vacation. :-s

Thanks halihope,my breath smells bad in the morning and late at night maybe because all the bacteria that concentrate on digesting food pass to the constant mucus dripping.until i drink or eat something my breath stink. My mom said that my breath have a mild odor an she said that is nothing to worry about, but when i spit my mucus on my hand and let it dry
then she could smell the real thing. Did you tell your parents that bb is a big frustrating problem for you?Because i did and they said that they would help me with to solve this problem.
About the grades,i prefer to play soccer with my friends and chase girls ,of course always with a gum in my mouth, but i manage the grades too :D
Again thanks for your words halihope :)
i hope that everybody finds a cure and lives a happy life like we deserve.
Goodluck and goodbye 8)
