Strict diet.....
Strict diet.....
I firmly believe that this is my issue. But staying on the diet is so hard - as everyone else I suspect is/has gone through.
The longest I stayed committed to that diet was 2 weeks, and I'll have to admit that I saw a slight difference in my bb. The fecal odor wasn't as pungent.
It's interesting that everyone throws out possible solutions that may work (ie. priobotics, colosturm, collidal silver, B6, etc.) but the reality is is that none of the herbal medicines will work if you're not following a very strict diet.
I'm just curious to see who is following this diet and is also on all/some of the herbal drugs that many have discussed, and still haven't found any relief?
Thanks,
Viv
Like you, I've only managed 2 weeks on a strict anti-candida diet before giving in to something I shouldn't have eaten.
I was also taking a mulitude of supplements whilst on the diet. I noticed that my breath lost it's stale food odour whilst on the diet, but the musty-ish smell seemed to get worse and worse, which made me think maybe I could have a tooth/sinus problem too (even though my dentist says that my teeth and gums are fine, still waiting for my CT scan).
Thing is, if I knew for sure that the problem was my digestive system and not my teeth/sinuses, I'd be alot more comitted and willing to stick to the diet, but at the moment, it doesn't seem to be worth torturing myself with an extremely strict diet when it may not even be helping with my bb!!

Did you read what i said regarding a possible connection between your teeth and your sinuses? You wouldnt need to have blocked-off sinuses at all and be completely asymptomatic regarding the usual symptoms of something wrong in there (apart from the odour in your PND), but could a wisdom tooth be invading your sinus producing something in there which then freely drains out eventually finding its way into your throat 24/7 and possibly causing some foul odours in your nose along the way? It makes sense as a possible explanation with the descriptions you've given. Its something which might not show up to a doctor as a typical case of sinusitis because your sinuses wont need to be blocked-off for this to be happening. And any antibiotics would only temporarily stop anything going on in there, as soon as you stop, the situation with an invading tooth in there would soon revert to how it was.
Yes, but with candida, technically it's suppose to get worse before it gets better; and if your not practicing the extreme regimen for a long period of time, then you'll never see true results.
Granted it may not be an issue for everyone, but I wouldn't be suprised if it's a problem for a lot of us.
Also, it's scary, but like going to an endocronologist, gastro-intestinal specialist also have a hard time in diagnosing people.
I can say first hand because the first time I went to one was because of my problem with constipation. He wanted to basically give me a bunch of fiber supplements and eating foods high in fiber, and although it helped a bit, i knew there was something else. He finally ordered for me to have a colonoscopy, and found I had a very twisted colon ---> which there is nothing that can help undo to twist. But with that, I knew that there was a possiblility that my bb may be caused by my twisted colon. I just know that I have to learn to eat better, but it's just so hard.
I think a lot of us are just kidding ourselves if we think that taking these supplements are going to really help us in the long run. It's like putting a bandage on a bullet wound...eventually you have to remove the bullet in order to get relief.
Anyway, that's just my theory.
Yeah, I agree, I've got a couple of things to ask my ENT after my CT. Is there a wisdom tooth invading my sinus cavity or could my deviated septum be causing mucous to stagnate in my sinuses.
I'm also thinking of going back to my dentist and asking for an x-ray to double check for any possible infection (even though she says there isn't). Do you think a dental x-ray would show an invading wisdom tooth?
Vivian,
I've had trouble with constipation and bloating for years. I've been back to my GP lots of times to try and sort this (not in relation to my bb) and she just tells me to take laxatives (really helpful!!) The only thing that seems to decrease my bloating and help with constipation is a REALLY strict diet for a LONG time. I once managed it for 6 weeks and had a totally flat stomach for the first time in my life. I don't think it had much of an effect on my breath though. I was thinking of going to see a gastroenterologist, but even if they found anything, like your twisted bowel, there's not much to be done about it except a strict diet. But, as you said, something like that must have an effect on bb, particularly as a twisted bowel must mean that food stays around for longer and must therefore be putrifying in the bowel and causing a bacterial imbalance which will effect tongue coating and breath. I don't think we'll know if this helps unless we try to stick to a strict diet for at least 6 months, which will be really hard to do!!

A CT scan should show if the tooth has invaded the sinuses fairly conclusively. I think other people who have been cured from wisdom tooth extraction on this forum are a bit like yourself rather than me, as their wisdom tooth is usually partially erupted from the gum and may have a skin flap which is trapping food and attracting bacteria.
If I had this problem, I wouldn't hesitate in having my wisdom teeth whipped out ASAP. How come you don't have your tooth taken out, as it sounds like this is very probably the source of your bb?

I'll be having this tooth out very soon and will keep people posted on my progress and in the meantime sharing my experiences with others on here hoping they may discover some common connections. The reasons why i havent had it done yet even though i've suspected it for years are psychological which ive explained in my main post, but since finding this site and researching a lot lately i feel convinced and im going ahead with it. Regarding the wisdom teeth (or any teeth for that matter) most of us will have had these common causes dimissed. And reading cured's wisdom teeth posting in particular, it certainly opened my eyes to how something like this could so easily have been missed.
