My Story...

Hi i'm Kris,

I have been suffering from halitosis for some time now, but of recent weeks it seems to have gotten worse and people are starting to notice alot more often and it is causing me to be very very uncomfortable around other people and not want to go out etc. This is the worst thing i have ever been faced with. I have always been very social (one of the cool kids) and in a way i'm glad it has happened now and not earlier because i have been able to socialise, have a girlfriend and kiss girls etc which i'm sure some of you guys have been not able to do with this stupid problem (something i cant do now!).

My mother seems to suffer from the exact same halitosis problem i have, and i can smell it on her breath. My brother also seems to suffer from halitosis of some sort, but his seems to smell differnt to mine and my mothers. I was listening to a man on the radio here in Australia about bad breath as he runs a "bad breath clinic" and he says in the interview that when we are born we are born with our mothers bacteria. Has anyone else had this same theory? Does or has your mother also had/have bad breath?

When i wake up in the morning i have a terrible taste in my mouth and my tounge does no longer feel healthy. I have been using a tounge scraper the last week or so and have found it has made a huge differnce to the way my mouth feels. It feels so much cleaner, basically as if i don't have bad breath anymore. It takes the toxic taste away. I have been brushing after every meal when i can, flossing after every meal and using the tounge scraper quiet harshly to get the white coating of my tounge. Unfortunatly as soon as i wake up the bad taste is bad, just not as bad as if i hadn't scraped my tounge.

This leads me to think that maybe i have too much bacteria on my tounge and the back of my throught. What else would u recommend i do to try and stop this buildup of bacteria on my tounge/throught? I'm tyring not to pannic and just stick to the basics first. Is there any tablets i can get my doctor to give me? I read about some on this site but i'm confused..

Also, id just like to say what a great site !!! I'm so glad we are all fighting this problem together. If this site wasn't here i dont think id have any hope of a cure. Thank you guys.

Cheers,
Kris

There are many underlying causes of bad breath. A good start of understanding the causes and some of the remedies of bad breath can be found at the following website:

http://www.doctorspiller.com/halitosis.htm

You can also try something that has been helping me. After brushing my teeth, I gently scrape my tongue and then brush the tongue with TheraBreath Plus toothpaste with OXYD-8 and Zinc Rx. Then I rinse with TheraBreath Plus Oral Rinse. And then I disolve an Evora plus probiotic tablet on my tongue. This cuts down my breath odor for 6 to 8 hours.

My mother also always had an odor on her breath. And yes, you get the initial oral bacteria from your mother within the first 48 hours of life.

From my experience this is what I would do:

Do you have smelly tonsil stones? If so get a Tonsillectomy. Following my tonsillectomy my bad breath reduced by about 70%.

Do you have impacted wisdom teeth where bacteria can be hiding under gum flaps? If so remove it.

Next check that the rest of your teeth and gums are ok by visiting dentist and telling the dentist that you have chronic bb and whether he/she can see any cause. Do you regularly get a deep clean from your hygienist/dentist? If not get it done. A deep clean is where they clean under the gums as well as between the teeth.

Next you should try to reset your bacteria balance in your body. You should take Metronidazole (excellent anearobic bacteria killer) for one week with Fluconazole (fungal killer) for two weeks. Whilst taking these meds load up on probiotics (good bacteria). Go for the expensive stuff that has 50 billions bacteria per capsule.

Following the above you will definitely see improvement but if you are not cured then you will have to consider other causes that are well documented on these forums.

The above is the process I have taken and whilst I am still finishing my fluconazole course I do believe that I am near curing my condition.

I know I definitely can now be bb free for a few hours after brushing but since I cant brush my teeth 8 times a day I am still trying to find the ultimate cure.

I feel that I am close though.

Why make an ID almost identical to someone else's? its bound to lead to confusion.

Sorry for the late reply guys, have been real busy with work. I will be able to reply alot faster now. Thanks for all the reply's guys.

Well, the past week i have been and seen my doctor and she prescribed me with metrogyl 200mg (2 tablets 3 x a day) and it is hard to say if it worked or not. at times i felt it may have worked and other time i felt it did not. i wake up in the morning now and i THINK my mouth feels better than it did before. i found disovling a tablet on my tounge for 15 seconds or so helped and swallowing the rest. As far as a cure, im not so sure. I also went and saw my dentist, she did xrays of my teeth and said i have no holes in my teeth and my mouth is in pretty good shape. she also said i have a fair bit of plauqe build up towards my back teeth so i am thinking i am going to request a deep clean to be done just to rule out one more thing. how can i go about requesting a deep clean? i notice my gums do slightly receed of my teeth. i also notice every morning i can cough up think green mucus from my throat and during the day can allways cough up think white mucus which when i was on the metrogyl somtimes looked as if there was somthing living in it. i would also try Fluconazole to see if that can have any effect. i am just going to try anything and everything to get rid of this, i have had enough.

bbuk:
thank you for such an informative reply, greatly appreciated. from what i can see, i cannot see any tosil stones at all. in fact my tonsils look to be in good health from what i can see. i have one impacted wisdom tooth on the right hand side of my mouth it is only just poking out and food DOES get stuck in there but im always pretty good at flossing to remove it after eating. as i mentioned above, Fluconazole is somthing i deffonatly want to try. Probiotics sound like a god thing also. i am going to try everything you have mentioned in your post and let you know the results.

What you need is laughter.. Make her laugh and let go of your Judgements..

There is a thousand reasons why a person can have breath.. but all it takes is continual acts of love and it is all that makes the difference..

sounds like an indication of Change to me, but we all see differently :)
