It’s been a while since I’ve been active on this website. I came to the realization that I don’t have bad breath but I do suffer from Halitophobia. I came back to this website to say a lot you don’t have chronic bad breath, it’s all in your head(Halitophobia).

I advise many of you to ask your coworkers, peers, friends and family if they can smell your breath. It may be an awkward question but you can make it less awkward. What I do is I go up to people who I talk to regularly and take them to the side and I get close to their face like I’m about to tell them something really serious and I just say “I need you to help me out, I’m about to go visit this girl tonight after work/school. And I was wondering if I should go home first to brush my teeth before I go see her, does my breath smell bad or can you smell it.” I find that this is the best way to ask someone if your breath smells because if your breath do smell they will feel inclined to tell you so you won’t ruin your alleged date. And that way they won’t feel bad about telling you if your breath really does smell. And it’s important when you do this to get real close to their face so they can determine if your breath smells. I’ve asked this question to well over ten different people in the past year who I have talked to regularly and not one have said they can smell my breath.

Nowadays I just focus on making sure my clothes don’t smell. The reason why I say that is because I work in a casino so I go home smelling like a human cigarette not realizing because I’ve grown use to the smell and I don’t smoke at all. So now I wash my clothes more frequently and never wear the same clothes I wear to work, outside of work. In addition, I live in Las Vegas where the heat is well over 100 degrees on a daily which cause people to sweat and produce certain body odors so I tend to wash my clothes more frequently because of that too and I like to freshen up at times throughout the day, other than doing it only during my morning hygiene routine.

There’s really not much else I can say other than I would advise many of you to stop wasting your time going to various doctors and researching for a cure that doesn’t exist for a disease that doesn’t exist. Also, stop spending your hard earned money on useless products. All that stuff is doing is making you people feel hopeless and depressed. Some of you really need to go to therapy or at least need to stop believing every reaction someone makes is sign that your breath smells. However, I definitely recommend you all to take care of your oral hygiene by going to the dentist regularly for cleaning and checkups, getting rid of your cavities, getting rid of impacted/infected/dead teeth. I also recommend you all to remove the silver filling in your teeth if you have any and replace with white/composite fillings but that’s just a personal preference.

I’ve been struggling with Halitophobia for almost a decade and because of that over the years my personality has diminished and now I’m in the rehabilitation stage by trying to build by confidence up again. So many of my years was wasted on this issue and I will not let another year be wasted on this issue again and I hope you all won’t contine to waste your time/years trying to find a cure when most you don’t even have a disease/chronic bad breath.
I often think its all in my head, and that I am ruining my life over irrational anxieties, but how do I explain the bad taste in my mouth? Were reactions the only reason you thought you had bad breath?

For me yes reactions where the only reason why I thought I had bad breath. But I know my B.B. is not strong enough to fill a room as once I’ve brushed and scraped my tongue I can hold a conversation ( with mint and speaking in a way to avoid breathing out too much!)without them giving me a reaction. However there are times when my B.B. is really bad, so bad that no matter how much brushing or scraping I do the stench is always there. I also noticed around time my tonsils appeared normal but I always had a sore throat and when I squeezed my right tonsil puss would come out and some tonsil
Stones. It’s too soon for me to say that I don’t have that type of B.B. yet, but I will update you guys in another few weeks.
