who is the doctor? Is this the same doctor that ribeiro86 went to?
Yes, it's the same doctor. he has a website called The Breath inistitute. on this website, he said to have developped a kit called Arthyaga which is basically what Ribeiro have discribed, mouth swab, nasal swab et gaz from the mouth. but it's pretty expensive, so would love to have more review on this.
there is another doctor in the US,Joseph R Nemeth DDS & Associates. he has a youtube channel where he explains how he treates bad breath. and he basically does the same thing, but with different test, but looks for bacteria which is suppovsidly causing periodental issue and bad breath. he himself is a periodentist, so. what I have learnt from his video was:
he does deep cleaning first the gum line and probably unther the gum and washes the oral cavity and tongue with high pressure to eliminate the bioflim of the bacterias. and gives hydrogen peroxide + activator (two bottle of products that can be bought online) to keep cleaning teech and mouth at home. that's all.
there was a review from someone from Newyork. I will copy past it in the next reply, as it's a bit long.

if I understood wel Ribeiro and Dr. Joseph Nemeth, they all looks for the bacterias and proceeds to kill or remove it.
because: the 2 antiobiotics that were priscribed to Ribeiro was Flagyl (Metronidazole, Flagyl is commercial brand name, there is other generic from of this under other brand name, same effect)
and Amoxiciline. these too are the very common two types of antibiotcs to treat periodental infection.
another one is Doxycycline.

interestingly there is another post: how i got rid of bad breth by Khalid

Code: Select all

https://www.badbreathhalitosis.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7222&p=63383#p63383
a pharmacist recommended him to use oraly as mouth wash for 2 month Doxycycline, and he said to have cured his many years struggled bad bread.
so all comes to one place: killing or removing bacteria or bioflim of bacteria which is/ are said to be causing this problem orally.
bullshit, these doctors are quacks...they all do the same, flagyl was prescribed years ago, never helped anybody here....also metro helps but then when you start taking it goes back to full bad breath....these scammers just want money....they did not invent anything new.....it is just New Dr Speiser, Katz, in diffrent suit and office....
I agree with you. there 3 antibiocts are very comment. DDoxycycline Amoxciline are the typical antibiotics priscribed to periodental problem or infection. Flagyl I have learned about it when I was looking at SIB in January, there is a funtional medicin doctor in Newzland called Dr. Nirola Jacobi , one of her SIBO potcast she said Flagyl is good for sibo patients because this antibiotics is not absorbed into blood stream and it stays only in small instestin( if I remember correctly).
about the test that Rebeiro talked above, the type test that Dr. Jonas runs seemed the same as in this article:
https://www.cda-adc.ca/jcda/vol-66/issu ... pvV6DzCcN8
The three main methods of analyzing oral malodour are organoleptic measurement, gas chromatography (GC) and sulphide monitoring. indeed nothing new ............
we poor desparate people, and they are getting rich by that...

You are not back at whatever.. nobody begged you to particpate in this. and before offering nothing but bs, let people ask question for your bb's sake.

as someone new to this forum and currently came accross to the doctor's website and searched for reviews as it will cost about a thousand and half.
as someone with UC, I know better about sibo sifo or whatever shit on functional medicine and I speak 5 langues from western to eastern and knows well about herbal medicine too if you wanna talk somerookies shit.
I simply compared 3 topics on antibiotics and gave my opinion, and said this doctor's test is not something innovative, since this particular topic is about that doctor and antibiotics. and if you have NEW things to talk than antibiotcs, bactrias or gene mutation, lecture us. we will pray for your cure. lol

wantmylifeback wrote: Thu Jul 11, 2013 9:14 pm This post is a bit long, but if a few people find this helpful, I'd be glad to have helped.

Having not got any feedback from people who actually got this treatment done and given that the referenced articles are more confusing (laser treatment or not, treatment for BB borne from gum disease or other oral areas, etc.), I finally called them. The staff is friendly and transferred me to Dr. Nemeth's assistant with whom I was on the phone for about 35-40 minutes, and she patiently went over the treatment with me.

First, this is not a laser treatment, and secondly, they are upfront about what type of BB they can treat and what types they cannot. They can treat only if the BB is caused by anaerobic bacteria on the back of the tongue. To determine if the BB is indeed caused by anaerobic bacteria on the back of the tongue they do a test on the first visit. If the test result is positive, they would proceed with the treatment on second visit. Being an out-of-town patient, they were open to do the test and treatment on same visit for me.

I visited several dentists, couple of GI doctors, an ENT doctor, an allergy specialist, an oral pathologist over the past five years, without any success. None of them actually seem to be knowledgeable about BB, and this was the first time I talked to a professional who seems to at least have a clue about BB. That itself was enough for me to decide to make a trip to Detroit from New York. At least I'd know if the source of my BB is the anaerobic bacteria on the back of the tongue or not.

The test is essentially a “smell test”. They scraped the back of the tongue with a 2x2 gauze and smelled it. I did too. That was the first time in over five years (since the onset of my BB) I was been able to smell my own BB and it was gross. The treatment involved scrapping my tongue off of the anaerobic bacteria and cleaning the tongue and entire oral cavity with chlorine dioxide rinse (commercially called ProFresh, which probably everyone on this forum heard of).

For two hours after the treatment my mouth was gushing saliva non-stop, like a fresh water spring gushing water. If it is true that anaerobic bacteria makes the mouth dry and reduce saliva production, the treatment seems to have got the intended effect of eliminating the anaerobic bacteria very effectively. At least for two hours. It remains to be seen if it is permanent.

Since my return I have been following the ProFresh protocol twice a day—first thing in the morning and last thing in the night before bed. Before using ProFresh, I do the smell test, and for someone like me, who is single and do not have a trusted friend/family to tell me how my breath is on a daily basis, this test is great. I know exactly where I stand regarding my breath.

It's been almost two weeks and so far the smell test indicates that my BB is mild compared to how it was when the test was done at Nemeth's office. When talking to people, the step backs, the upper body arch backs to move away from me, the finger covering of noses, and the "how disgusting" looks have disappeared. The finger covering of noses when I'm talking to people from few feet away have now changed to occasional swipes across their noses when I'm really close to them, confirming the smell test that my BB is not entirely eliminated, but is now mild.

I don't know if this is a permanent change in my oral bacteria or temporary—time will tell—but I have a barometer in the smell test for me to know it myself. I cannot explain how frustrating it was over the past five years not knowing how my breath was until I interact with people and embarrass myself. Now if I can find a way to eliminate the remaining mild BB, life will be back the way it was before! I'm thinking of eating yogurt and may be use Blis K12 lozenges to colonize my oral cavity with good bacteria.
it was this post.
I saw this one review on DR. Joseph Nemeth last year when I came across him on Youtube. You can look up yourself by searching his name in the searhing box. this post was on 2013. I don't how he is doing now.
my point is, for Rebeiro and Khalid they just used some antiobiocts for some time. in Robeiro's case only for 10days, and he said cured for 90%,( at least for that time being, after that we don't know) as conventional antiobiotcs in majority of case, it's not recommended more than 2 weeks. but people take Accutan for as long as 6 months, but will cause dysbiosis( I know someone who has Ulcerative colits blames thhat it was long term antibiotique taking has caused dysbiosis which led him to have this disease).
I think on dysbiosis topic, Gutshot26 have deeper knowledge.
but in Khalid's case, he only used it as mouth wash and it's like topically using antiseptic, it doesn't go into blood stream, lesser chances that we might developpe resistance to it.
and my theory as to why this worked for Khalid( I suppose it worked, otherwise he would keep coming back here) is: in his case, he used it for 2 moths, long enough to destroy bioflim and kill the pathogenic bacteria that might have caused his bad bread. because after so many years of trial not being able to treat the cause, during all those time, even the bacteria probably has developped a quite strong defense for themselves in our body for them to be able to eliminated. that's why 2 month or he just kept to make it compeletly disappear, once seeing it working.
what do you think?
after all, all these three were treated for oral
Thanks Fighting,

I have come back to the website today to talk about my antibiotic success.

It has been six months since I finished my double antibiotics course (Rifaximin + Neomycin) and I am happy to say my bad breath is reduced - some days it isn't even there. I have come back to the site to find more antibiotics to take because I plan on doing another course to eliminate the rest of it.

This is the first dent I've made in it in over 15 years. I wrote a letter to my doctor thanking him.

I've taken amoxicillan and metronidazole in the past, but just singularly. I believe double antibiotic therapy is what we need to permanently eradicate the bacteria. I am leaning toward Doxycycline and Vancomycin for the next course. I am very excited and happy these days.
For type 1 sufferers, bad breath is mostly caused by overgrowths of sulphur-reducing bacteria within your microbiome. You should spend more time focusing your attention on these overgrowths if you want to find your permanent cure.

Unfortunately all bacteria usually come back to restore microbial flora within few days after antibiotics ceased.

Hi,

I've been suffering from this dreaded disease since i was made aware of it by other kids in high school, aged 11.
i joined this forum in 2007 and was hoping for a cure but to no avail.

my bad breath comes from my tongue, when i eat food my breath takes on the smell of the food and odour i breathe out is horrible.

I have a 10 minute free phone consultation with dr nunes in December so will ask him about my type of halitosis and treatment for it.
I reckon i have one of of the more common types of halitosis.

£1,000 is a lot of money to me, the price is off putting, Why so high?! They are based in London and i would have to take the train to see him.

I would like to add somethings..

Many people think, they will know source of their halitosis if it is measured with a halitometer. But this is not true. Measurement is not diagnose.

If a person says " There is halitosis in my mouth" so, there is.
Importance of gas measurement in the mouth of a halitosis case is poor.

Target of gas measurement is
1- To monitorize treatment
2- To compare between initial and post treatment values and between cases.
3- To confirm whether known odorus gases are present in the mouth /breath /nasal cavity, or not
