I might pop by

I'm fed up of not knowing when my breath is OK and not. I've had terrible reactions from those around me even when I thought all was fine.

The OralChroma is pretty expensive though, so I would prefer to split it with a few fellow sufferers ...

Where in the UK did u get this checked..?


From memory (...think I read some Dutch studies on this years ago) high Dimethyl Sulfide indicates blood-borne halitosis. Probable source: D.Sulfide-producing bacteria in the digestive tract.

Most research say Volatile Sulphur Compounds are responsible for most sufferers' stench.

So... the idea of this diet is to minimize the fuel needed for those compounds to form.

I've tried this for a couple of weeks and the odor reduction from saliva/tongue is obvious.

I was confused and rubbed the back of my tongue with my finger, normally it smells like rotten cheese....now nothing.


Do we know if the antibiotics got rid of the tongue stench by attacking bacteria on the tongue, or in the stomach (HP)? We don't really know, I guess, but it sounds promising ...

I use Salagen pills (active substance: Pilocarpine) in order to get more watery saliva flow. They give some relief.

I would only buy one to measure any progress made. If the readings go down on those three gases, I guess I must be doing something right .

At the moment, any progress is just guesswork, by judging on others' reactions etc. Not very accurate.

...but which device should I get, instead of the OralChroma..? Going for *one* test at a clinic isn't very useful. I need to test myself regularly, in order to find out what makes the breath better/worse...

I'll check eBay right now though 8). A Halimeter might be enough, but I think someone said at some point that Dimethyl sulfide represents 'blood-borne halitosis' ie it doesn't originate orally... so it would be good to ...

Yes.
They smell methylated amines but not sulfur. They have lesser sulfur gases in their mouth. Its reason not clear. In a study (Whittle CL, 2007), oral sulfur gases compared between Tmau people and healthly subjects.

I would like to try the Pharmol Zn....... apparently it's sold in Turkish pharmacies, but the company refuses to sell abroad...

I like this idea, too.

But the ENT I spoke to about it, said it would probably become an even better breeding ground for bacteria.

Still, nobody has tried it, as far as I know. Can you ask whoever did your gum lasering to have a go...? 8-[
