That's really interesting Hali. Apparently there is a link between IgA deficiency and Celiac disease: http://cvi.asm.org/cgi/content/full/9/6/1295 "Immunoglobulin A (IgA) deficiency is 10 to 15 times more common in patients with celiac disease (CD) than in healthy subjects." I'm not sure w...

team, This is very promising. Is there a cure for this? :P Hey Snoop, I'm not sure to be honest. The cure would be getting IgA replacement therapy, since the bodies of people with the disorder lack the proper mechanisms to produce it directly. I've read about replacement therapy for other classes o...

I'm really interested in 'selective IgA Deficiency'. From Wikipedia: "Selective immunoglobulin A (IgA) deficiency is a relatively mild genetic immunodeficiency. People with this deficiency lack immunoglobulin A (IgA), a type of antibody that protects against infections of the mucous membranes l...

Larc, I've experience the exact same thing in the past. Waking up in the middle of the night about to throw up. Drinking water has helped me get rid of that feeling, possibly by driving the acid out of the throat. I also have many of the LPR symptoms others have mentioned. I couldn't agree more that...

Hey, Well, it's great that your doctor was so understanding and willing to help you. I tried Metronidazole last winter, along with another antiboitic and a proton-pump inhibitor, which is the triple therapy for H. pylori, the bacteria that causes ulcers. People here found reports that some people ha...

So its processed grains specifically? Like pasta, white bread, crackers, etc? Or does what you're talking about include simple sugars too, like in soft drinks, desserts, fruit, and stuff like that?

I guess I'm just confused as to exactly what is off-limits.

Is it all carbs in general, or specifically grains? Are things like potatoes and bananas okay? They have carbs, but aren't grains.

Arch I thought I read in another thread you've tried a low-carb diet in the past, and pretty much every type of diet for that matter.

Have you tried this before, and did it help you?

It's great that you're having success with this.

Where were you able to find out exactly what the ingredients were? The main website for the product doesn't give any useful information on that, and another website that reviews pills like this said they were also unable to find out what was in it.

The underweight thing could be a coincidence, but there do seem to be a lot of underweight people around here.

That doesn't meant it's the cause or that it's relevant for everyone. But it seems pretty possible its related for some.

I'm also what I'd consider to be underweight. I'm around 6'0 or 6'1 and weigh around 145 lbs. I also have digestion issues like bloating. Have been to dentists and ENT's who said everything was normal. I can also feel that acid or something else is refluxing into my throat area. I don't get heartbur...

Prey, I noticed earlier you mentioned a food intolerance test to see about allergies. If you tested negative you might write this off as a potential cause. But, I wonder if the wheat or gluten could still cause the problem for some through a mechanism other than allergies. For example, if you had a ...

Hey Dreamweaver, I don't think there is any danger to taking Tums on a daily basis long-term. I know people who use it as a calcium suppliment. I think it may raise your risk of kidney stones to some degree though, because of the calcium. I agree with you about LPR possibly being a major contributor...
