Flagyl for life?

Post by nevergiveup »

Hey guys

After learning about flagyl on this forum, I decided to get myself some and go on 200mg 3x daily for 7 days.

After 3 days of treatment BB was completely gone but sadly returned after 2weeks of stopping treatment like so many others who have tried this drug.

Since i can get flagyl here in SA quite easily and cheap, what i was thinking was going on a weeks course every 2 weeks. I know what most of you would say about the side effects etc, but have you ever considered what a nasty side effect LIFE can be when you suffer with BB???

What are your thoughts on this guys, seriously. What would you do if you were in my situation and were able to get these drugs as easily as i can?

Thanks

It's been tried, the BB bacteria develops a resistance to Flagyl.

i would definitely consider it but I would consult a doctor for some insight on dosage and routine first before starting it. Believe it or not, there are people who take antibiotics their entire life. My doctor had told me this piece of info. Some women who experience chronic or reoccurring urinary tract infections take antibiotics on a daily basis for their entire lives. I implored him to prescribe me, but he instead asked me to see an ENT specialist to make the final call on such a prescription, to help with the PND...and we all know how this process goes..

thanks terranpatriot, that REALLY makes me feel a bit better, especially the part about knowing that some people take antibiotics or life. Unfortuatley no doctor will support me because they simply see bad breath as an illness...not a disability as we do.

Archimonde..it may not work but im going to give it a try nevertheless.

Cheers.

JFYI, I have a relative who is on an indefinite course of antibiotics called CO-TRIMOXAZOLE (this is the name in the UK) in order to prevent bladder infections from a related illness. Causes no problems or side effects whatsoever.

I'm not sure how its possible for anyone to stay on antibiotics without developing resistance, but I think when antibiotics are used in this way, it works against the introduction of any new pathogenic bacteria entering the body, like an extra defense for those who are immune compromised. As for existing bacteria in the body, they have probably become immune to it. So I think the same thing would happen with taking something like metronidazole indefinitely. If it wasnt for antibiotic immunity this would be a potential cure for so many, and I read something quite recently of a new development that can prevent bacteria from developing immunity.

hmmmm,

who's to say what makes our condition worse or subsides the strength of the ordor.
i soak my toothbrush in peroxide and rinse thoughrougly along with rinsing with
bakin soda. that could have more irreversible damage when doing long term unless
you use the food grade which my lazy broke ass keeps neglecting. plus i keep
sayin it amounts to having the right diet along with topical treatment that may help
reduce what we have of course we hitting the pipe and downin beers with pizza cant help. who knows really, we're jus speculating without having the
experts trial our ideas. keep turnin those thinkin wheels boys and girls

aahhh read closer halsux my friend there you will see the words clearer. naahh i bustin
your chops. i guess what i'm trying to come across is none of us not even the called
experts know how to really remedy this illness if you will. it's us trying this doing that
staying away from this. we don't know, im sure some of us will get lucky and find a
treatment that works for them permanently and most will have to accept there fate but still live fulfilling lives. i look at this site more of a outreach for acceptance for who we are as well as try to find a concrete connection to all of us that we can focus on that one area we know causes what we have and apply the treatment that will correct our condition regardless on how and when we contracted the bug. maybe that should clear things up. and of course
lighten things up a bit

"hittin the pipe"? fess, if I were you, I'd lay off the green man. Not only does it impair your cognitive function, as is apparent, it also dries out your mouth drastically. zero saliva = halitosis...genius.

aaahh a wiser man speaks, errr i think not. i read your short stories
t.pat nothing earth shattering that i don't already know. only constant stories on your damn wisdom teeth chronicles and how anitbiotics may or may not be the direction for long term treatment, good luck with that. listen
everyone knows smoking of any kind and drinkin cant help our cause. i
said that to show i can poke fun and see my own wrong doings without
a dim star like yourself trying to enlighten me. we're all in this big soup
together and if someone suggest something that may work then kudos
and if not then the search continues. what i preach most is people are so
damn scared to put real foods that our body needs to fuel our systems
so we don't become immune deficient which can aspirate our bb. twinkle
toes we can go tick for tac but lets get to the grander scheme of things
and not get so sensitive to other peoples opinions you'll be okay just keep
searching and press ahead like the rest.

t.pat
hey, i was reading further on your write ups. no, i'm not lookin for a fight. but i notice
on your first writing you stated about breakin off with bf then on a another article you wrote how
some girls want to hook up with you. but on other writings you wrote about women
takin long term antibiotics which conclude me with other words which display
empathy only women usually express i would say your a female. the bare chest of a man
for your avatar through me off. listen your writings show your able to connect ideas
that correlate with results but not necessary effective. that's good, i come off cocky but
my research is pretty extensive too and since im in the health field my thoughts come from
fundamental understandings and speaking to specialists on how some things we contract from a
particular illness thats irreversible. once we ruled everything else out then our next goal
is a daily treatment to neutralize the bacteria that live as a host in our body. i try to prepare
people as myself that there may not be a solvable solution for everyone so we must
try to eat, exercise, rest to minimize our condition from being lets say inflamed. it's not
easy lets work together all of us and see if by exchanging ideas we can maybe riddle
our very own condition while listening and supporting fellow victims. believe me i fight my
own demons on this arduous journey and reading from you guys make me want try
to help those that don't fully understand the biology of our bodies. no hard feelings kiddo.

I was just thinking of doing this nevergiveup. What is the regular dosage for Flagyl? Some people with TMAU are given a low dosage of antibiotics for life. It is so true that quality of life is just more important than quantity. Only I still worry that it might hurt me somehow. I would definitely take probiotics with it. I am going to research this drug some more...

Here is another similar product. I actually have this because my colonic lady gave it to me, but she told me to take 6 a night and this along with my low carb diet made me severely dehydrated. I am going to try this again, but take it throughout the day and start with 3 a day. I like that it says that it will take care of anaerobic bacteria - I think that I have too much anaerobic bacteria in my mouth - let's hope this will take care of this...another hopeful cure...I'll keep you posted....
