Gruesome Gastric Reflux
Got GERD? "A dentist will be able to tell if stomach acid is backing up into the mouth at night by looking for loss of enamel on the inside of the upper molars,” Mitchell says. “Gastric reflux can cause a sour taste in the mouth and is one of the biggest bad breath culprits. It can also contribute to sinus disease and sensitive teeth."
If you have gastric reflux, you can nip bad breath in the bud with over-the-counter antacids, by sleeping with your head elevated, and by not eating in the hours before bedtime. If your dentist suspects that reflux is to blame, you may need to see a gastroenterologist.
Well I take more than OTC meds for GERD and still have the problem. Does that rule out GERD/LPR bad breath?
