Safe products to manage halitosis

Post by rp »

Are there safe products that may not cure but manage halitosis?

I can't use harsh and/or useful stuff like Smart Mouth, Breath Rx Chlorhexadine, Therabreath, etc. Triclosan can cause antibiotic resistant and zinc has stained my teeth and darkened gums.

The only thing I like so far is Burt's bees with cranberry extract--it definitely doesn't get rid of my halitosis completely. But it can reduce it and get that digusting taste from my mouth. Unfortunately not the miracle drug and my breath gets stinky in less than 15 minutess (but not as horrible as without using this toothpaste and not really help much.

Has anyone tried cranberry extract by the way? (I do worry about staining)

I am just asking (possibly again) if anyone has had success with maunka honey?

What are non harmful and non staining products have you used that help manage your breath odor? What foods help not worsen or improve your halitosis? Your suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Of everything that i've tried to reduce BB, there are 2 things that i'm definitely sure help to some extent:

1- Taking chlorophyll everyday. It has some kind of cleansing effect, supported by science:

"A recent study conducted by researchers from Oregon State University (OSU) has found that chlorophyll works effectively to block bodily absorption of aflatoxin, a fungal contaminant found in many grain and legume stocks." Chlorophyll binds the highly acidic waste products made by fungi and yeast, to block these toxins from entering the bloodstream.

2- Ginger: believe it or not, i keep ginger in my pocket when i go out and If i find myself in a social situation, I will chew and swallow some of it every 30 mins or so. This helps the most out of everything I've ever tried (for very-temporary relief). I wish i had known about this before, someone mentioned it on the french forum recently. Science also says ginger contains many antibacterial and antifungal properties. Ginger beats mouthwash, mints, etc by a big margin.

Don't expect huge improvements, you may not even notice the difference yourself but just because you don't notice it doesn't mean your BB wasn't reduced.
