hmm why do you think that the sugarless is helping you? what was the problem with the other kind?oceanside wrote:Well, in regards to odor problem. It is caused by bacteria feeding on protein=anaeorobic. We can't do anything to stop them form producing/multiplying, that's why my problem is chronic. VC helps saliva flow, thick and rich, but only for a few hours at most. It's still only a band-aid relief but I don't have any other options at this point. So, today my mouth tasted clean, just like two weeks ago. my mouth has no other way of stimulting rich saliva flow. I drink water but it only gets my mouth wet, not moist and cleansing.

yeah the GNC cherry is what I have been using. The main ingredient is sorbitol, which has it's own side effects. if you are taking 10000 mg, you might want to look into the effects of sorbitol on the digestive system...ie diarrhea or stomach cramps. It may affect some people, but I didn't notice any stomach problems.
I'm giving this one more week. Since I am not realizing any noticeable benefits, I'm not going to keep putting high dosages of foriegn stuff in my body.
As a matter of fact, I am thinking of going back to a normal way of life for a month or 2 to see if my problem gets worse. Perhaps nothing I do has an effect either way, and I am sacrificing my normal happy life to this BB. Only get one life, and I need to enjoy what's left of it, BB or not.
The major point I am realizing, is that the "feel", look and taste of the mouth has nothing to do with the smell of the breath to others, as much as I try to deny that. I thought my mouth and breath were so clean the other day, as if something I did worked magic... until I had a meeting with 2 women, and at the end of the meeting, their chair were rolled back 5 feet away from the table. I'm sure someone will tell me, oh that's your imagination, you need to ask them...Whatever.
I know they tried to keep a poker face, but at the end... my breath is simply unpleasant to be near. I might as well had farted up the office.

I am sorry my friend. I agree with you 100%, and I am trying my best to move forward with life as well, deal w this problem as best as possible, and simply "live my life". b/c I m fixated w my breath, how it feels, taste, ect., I tend to be more critical of its actual odor.
Good luck and thank you for trying the VC experiment.

Elliot have you ever worn one those allergy masks or whether they are called in english. One thing is that you don't have to worry about makin other people near you uncomfortable, instead you make yourself uncomfortable, because you can smell your own bb.oceanside wrote:Elliott, elliott wrote: As a matter of fact, I am thinking of going back to a normal way of life for a month or 2 to see if my problem gets worse. Of course I'm not sayin that you should wear one all the time, but it can help if you don't feel comfortable being so close too someone like that situation you were in. Just tell them u caught a bad cold or somethin.
If u don't care about your bb and makin others uncomfortable, it is even better.

on wiki, it says 50 g or more sorbitol can cause SEVERE gastro-intestinal problems. can you guys look at the label on your sugar-free c bottle to see how much sorbitol there is per 1000 mg? thanks.elliott wrote:yeah the GNC cherry is what I have been using. i am experiencing other benefits of taking vit c, i have to say. but esp. when i'm home, i'm going to switch to the powder instead of the tabs all the time. i'm so damned sick of sucking on those damned tabs.
actually i'm going to start taking multi-vits again, inspired by this c experiment. it makes me feel so much more able to cope with everything psychological and physical when i have a better feeling of well-being. i also started reading that book by linus pauling, who also believed very much in taking regular doses of multi vitamins. it's an interesting book - very logical - not just some stupid self-help crap. if you guys want to check it out.
i do agree that the taste and feel of the mouth is not ALWAYS indicative of one's breath. but as i've mentioned before, there's a certain odor that i know is present when i have a certain taste in my mouth...

just wondering - have you tried using water to help get rid of the sugar afterwards?oceanside wrote:sugar provided food for bacteria and the chalky residue stuck on the back of my tongue like magnet. my tongue became a "welcome mat" for them. It was pink and fresh second week but it guess bacteria mutated (?). they were bad house guess that just won't go away.
yes, i drink alot of h2o when i can. however, my tongue is like a shaggy carpet at the back. bacteria hide in cracks, nooks, and crannies so the residue from chalky chewable VC makes things worse.
i m having pleasant relief using the GNC sugarless chewables. i like it a lot. yes, it's no cure but only a crutch/band-aid to give me a lift of confidence, and i need all the help i can get. yes, it's hard but i am trying to use this vc to help regain lost confidence and comfort from a life-long ordeal. like i said, w4r, i have been suffering all my life so i will be completely honest with you by saying that i have deep rooted pschological truama as a boy when my childhood friends called me "stinky breath" and many other humiliating events w BB which transformed me into this person whom i m today. so all these years i've been a prisoner of this madness, paranoia and i m trying so hard to break free to live in courage and not fear and embarrassment.
i had a really good talk w my niece about bb. i will share it when i can find the words to describe my ordeal.
anyway, what i am saying is that the sugarless vc is giving alot of courage to live my life around others at work. so i am trying to move forward and slowly whinny off the site as i am completely co-dependent of this site as a major support for me.
W4R, your post about your vacation really spoke to me. what you and i share are almost identical, mirrow image. i will PM you to talk about a few things, ok.
your friend,
john

hey john, have you tried the crystal? i mean the kind that you put in water and drink. i've tried it a few times and seem to find similar results as the chewables. but i'll try it some more before reporting again. that's got to be easier on the mouth.oceanside wrote:yes, i drink alot of h2o when i can. however, my tongue is like a shaggy carpet at the back. bacteria hide in cracks, nooks, and crannies so the residue from chalky chewable VC makes things worse.

i have been experiencing another side effect - bleeding gums. which is really weird. i didn't have bleeding gums before started taking vit c... so i'm hoping that by lowering my dosage of the chewables, it'd help the this condition.
john, i do believe that the site is great for us to find resources and support. we'll just have to use it in a way that's healthy for us. feel free to pm me about anything.
i have not tried the crystal. my gum and teeth are fine. other than my tongue feeling raw using the chewable last week, with the GNC version, i m doing ok. it is a postive step forward for me using the vc. i will check the label when i get home to see if it contains artificial sweetener, onless you looked on the internet and know it has.

snoop, i thought you were already getting total relief from the vit c with sugar? do you have anyone to confirm your breath?snoopsister wrote:Praise God, I am also having great results with sugar free vit.c. lots of saliva and no reactions from people. I will take this until lavoris. this is awesome!
What are you guys starting at (mg wise) for the vitamin C tabs? I don't want to go overboard, but at the same time, we're talking about bacteria that quickly builds its own defenses. You gotta come in strong at first...
This may be a little off topic. But is there anything on the market yet that delivers the good bacteria? I've heard of some yogurts and I think I'm gonna buy some tomorrow.
