Did he actually use an endoscope? Not the little metal, solid ones. The first ENT I went to said I had no adenoid tissue left and he used a metal, solid one. My surgeon used a flexible endoscope and saw tissue left that he thought would be a great contributor to smell and bacteria.Larc400 wrote:My "aroma" is also from nose + mouthbut I don't have any palatine tonsils (removed yers ago) nor adenoids (at least not according to the ENT that checked a few weeks ago).
This may be because the flexible ones reach much farther back into your nose.
About PND (I'm sure a lot of you already know this, but I felt compelled to post it for those who don't):
What are the causes of Post Nasal Drip?
Inhaled Irritants
This causes a swelling of the nasal and sinus linings which is very common where there is a lot of smog, dust and smoke.
Dairy Products
They cause mucus to thicken which leads to bad drainage.
Food Allergies
These cause mucus to thicken and cause bad drainage.
Illnesses
Colds, Flu, Bronchitis, Ear Infections and Tonsillitis are the main causes of PND and the production of excess mucus.
For me, I'm quite certain the main cause of my PND is tonsilitis. My tonsils are very cryptic and recently I've been have a mild sort throat like every day. I also have airborne allergies but I'm near the latter part of my treatment. And I get mild ear infections but I'm kinda thinking that relates to my tonsils...especially the adenoids. Also, I notice that when I press on my palatines, massive amounts of mucus will flow down.
I urge every one of you to cancel each of these causes out. Also, you really need to make sure your adenoids are completely removed. Since they reside in the nasal area they could very well be contaminating your mucus with bacteria. And thus spreading everywhere else, but not quite enough to the degree to get a sore throat like I do. You should also remember that if you got your tonsils removed as a child that they can grow back.
