Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Has anyone tried Hyperbaric oxygen therapy? This therapy involves breathing 100% pure oxygen while in a special space called a hyperbaric chamber. The increased air pressure in the chamber helps the lungs collect more oxygen, which is meant to help the body heal and fight certain infections. Since my BB is caused by the anaerobic bacteria on my tongue, I thought maybe this is a logical way to fight the bacteria... Just very curious if this can reduce BB...
Re: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
I'm just lifting this topic up after running into this hyperbaric oxygen thing somewhere. They claim that this therapy can change the composition of gut bacteria because of how the increased amount of oxygen kills off the most problematic anaerobic bacteria on the surface of the intestines and can affect the biofilms as well. I think, if this actually works, this may be the solution for SIBO as well and who knows what else.
They say that if you want to get the full benefits, it has to be the kind of therapy that uses high enough amount of pressure (the same as 5 meters under water, which I think is 1.5 bar) and the inhaled oxygen needs to be near to 100 % (which, I suppose, means you need to breath through an oxygen mask while being in the chamber – otherwise the amount of oxygen won't be high enough).
So, please tell us if you have tried this! I would like to know if this is something to try as well. If it wasn't as expensive, I would have tried it already.

Re: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Hi, after talking to the staff at the therapy center, I decided not to try this. The doctor mentioned that they haven't used this therapy for BB purposes before and were unsure if it would work. Additionally, the costs are high, and health insurance only covers part of itripa wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 10:29 pm I'm just lifting this topic up after running into this hyperbaric oxygen thing somewhere. Re: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
I'm sure they can't make any promises or even speculate with it but I think most of us are willing to try almost anything. At least this would be something that none of us has tried yet.
Too bad it's so expensive. Where I live, it's about 130 € for a single session (which is about the same in dollars). It would probably require continuous treatment (like a weekly session for several months at least) to see any results. And who knows if there would be any.
Maybe I'll try it anyway...
