Baguio,
Well I'm glad you've attended our meetup so can testify to this strange phenomenon, otherwise I don't think some of the other members would have believed it.

ASD,
Yes I think you are on the right lines although many bacteria can share the same metabolic pathway.

Vivien,
There is no fixed agenda. It is not an annual meeting but takes place twice a year so the following meetup will be in June 2009.
There will be other members with halitosis there so you can talk to them about whatever you want! Members meet and discuss their problems.
So you will be able to ask other members about their experiences of Fresh Breath Clinics and also about testing for metabolic disorders such as Trimethylaminuria etc.
You will also be able to ask them what products or diet they have tried and what helped. In short, the onus is on you to get out of the meeting what you want.
The meeting isn't minuted because there are several conversations going on at any one time perhaps in 3 groups. Sometimes members chat in 2s 3s or 4s, and there might be 10 or more of us present.
Members find that they enjoy socialising with each other aswell, especially since they usually can't smell one another. I hope that explains what the Meetup is about. Do come along to see for yourself.
You can phone me at home weekday evenings 8-10pm to chat more 01375 484 269
Regarding the group that met last in Chicago, I think you may be referring to the ISBOR event which is a proper formal conference that takes place every 2 years. I have attended 2 of their conferences. It is not specifically a US event but takes place in any country since ISBOR stands for International Society of Breath Odour Research

That's wonderful Michelle,
There are already at least 10 people coming so it should give us all a chance to make some really good friends.
You are absolutely right in what you say about it being really difficult to talk to people openly about this nightmare condition. We have been holding these meetups in London and Manchester for 5 years now and everyone has found them therapeutic.
Please make a note of my mobile which I will have with me on the day:-

This is an urgent announcement for all UK members attending our Christmas Meetup in London at 12pm onwards, Saturday 13th December. The venue has been changed to:-
'All Bar One' (restaurant/bar) in Leicester Square, London:-
http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/ ... ter_Square
This change was because the Covent Garden restaurant/ bar would not let us book a table outside and I felt this was important!
I am expecting at least 10 people, possibly including one from America and one from France. We will sit outside under heated umbrellas and have drinks and possibly Xmas dinner (if anybody wants). Please note I will have my mobile switched on and the number is 07984 295 559
If you need to contact me at home my land line number is
+44 01375 484 269 Also my email address is
[email protected] and also
[email protected]
So, if any of you have a desire to meet and chat with others who share your problem (exchange tips etc) please come along and pull a cracker with us! After this meetup the next UK meetup will be in June 2009 so don't miss this one!
