I'm not saying you have the sneeze thing, although you may do and not know it, if, as you say, you have nasal room filling odour.

But something has to be behind this sneezing odour thing. Something significant. And that something may relate in some way to ordinary constant nasal odour that a lot of people on this forum describe.

The water/dirty socks thing, I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "I smell what seems to be like dirty socks". Do you mean you smell it in the air afterwards? do you smell it when you breathe in?

You described your nasal odour to be like silicone bath sealer. I don't know whether this is typical of nasal odour or not?

This is a bit far out, because feet produce the smelly socks odour from the bacteria present there, but smelly socks is one description of Trimethylamine at low concentrations. Have you considered TMAU?

Defo when I breath in. Cuz ppl near me can't smell what I'm smelling after I drink water.

Correct. That is the typical nasal odor. I would like to say that this odor is mostly present when I have the fart breath.
Have you considered TMAU?
I make you a pardon, but what is that exactly ?

Thank you very much Hali for responding, I really appreciate it.

YVW.I'm guessing that drinking of any liquids could be releasing your odours from wherever they're concentrating, and water just happens to be neutral tasting which enables you to smell these other odourous chemicals as they get released? The drinking of water might also be the momentary de-familiarization of the odours your nose has become used to smelling from the back of your tongue. This could then allow your nose to become temporarily sensitive to your odour, for a short while until your nose becomes familiarized once again and you can no longer smell it.

I've never heard anyone describe their nasal odour as that of silicone bath sealer, but sometimes I get a hair follicle which becomes infected and when I rub my nostrils I can smell something similar. Same thing if I've gone all day without blowing my nose, the mucus can stagnate near the nostrils and become a bit strange smelling. It can be quite deceptive and give the impression that the smell is strong and all around you.

Have you ever smelled your own dental floss when it's absolutely stunk? Have you noticed that if you smell it and it happens to touch your nostrils the smell can linger there for ages after and feel like there's a stink surrounding you?

What I'm saying is, be careful when it comes to self-determining what odours you're giving off. There's absolutely no way to know for ourselves what we actually smell like to others, no matter what we think we can smell on ourselves.

This is TMAU:-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TMAU

TMAU manifests itself in many different ways. A lot of people think it's only associated with smelling fishy, but this is only true where concentrations of TMA are high. In low concentrations TMA can smell of a bizarre range of different odours, ranging from burning rubber, burning toast, dirty feet, garbage, and shit. Different manifestations result in different concentrations of TMA in the bloodstream. I don't know how reliable the tests are for the types of TMAU that result in low concentrations of TMA and the more bizarre types of non-fishy odours, but I wouldn't be surprised if many cases of chronic bad breath are due to "low-grade" TMAU, which would fall below the threshold of a positive TMAU diagnosis of the kind normally responsible for causing body odour, but yet be enough to cause odour on the breath.

One way to find out if your BB could be TMAU related, is to take a number of choline tablets (obtainable from health food stores) and increase the intake progressively over a number of days, and find out whether your odour progressively worsens.

doctors are absolutely useless

i had one flat out tell me

"some people just have bad breath"

i was sat in shock....

then handed me a halitosis leaflet on how to brush teeth.

how these bastards get their qualifications to be doctors is beyond me.

there IS a reason for bad breath, it's just finding it.

they can put ****ing machines on mars but can't cure halitosis. FRUSTRATING.

#-o Indeed. It's bizarre how the problem continues to be ignored.

This is the problem with healthcare governed by capitalism... Now instead of real cures in the interest of helping people, we have products in the interest of ripping people off.
