I guess there's a chance its tonsil stones despite me never seeing any. You use your hands to get them? How do u not gag?

take a q-tip and poke around your tonsils. I don't use my finger for that. However, even with the Q-tip I still gag.
If you still don't know how to do it, just watch a couple of youtube videos about that topic (yes there are actually people filming themselves taking out tonsil stones).
