DENTAL X-RAY TODAY

Post by Snobuni »

So I went for my dental x-ray today. My dentist is a really lovely person and takes this problem seriously. She explained all parts of the x-ray to me and looked closely for any signs of decay (which she couldn't find).

I asked her if my wisdom teeth could have invaded my sinuses, she couldn't see any sign of this (she also pointed out that my wisdom teeth are fully erupted and completely healthy). I asked if there could be a problem with my gums, but she said they're all tight around my teeth and that I don't have any pockets or skin flaps where bacteria could gather.

She did say something odd though, that some of my back teeth are in my sinuses, but that this is perfectly normal, and that all peoples back teeth are like this (it's why your jaw and teeth ache when you have a bad cold)..

She said my teeth are amongst the healthiest and cleanest she sees. It's nice to know that, but it doesn't really help me with my bb.

At least I can cross bad teeth/gums and problems with wisdom teeth off my list. The only options left to me are; my deviated septum is causing PND or infected mucous (but would it be worth getting this fixed just on the off chance that it will help?), lingual tonsils collecting loads of crap and this is being broken down by bacteria (going to ask my ENT about both these things at my appointment), a bacterial imbalance on my tongue, a stomach/intestinal problem or a combination of all these things!! :-k

Hey Snobuni,
Plenty of things to discuss with your ENT still.
Could the x-rays you had rule out 100% any invaded wisdom teeth?
I've read of people correcting deviated septums to no avail. Did you have tonsils and adenoids out?
Since you've ruled out just about every known cause of BB, maybe all you need is this antibiotic therapy to re-initiate your oral bacterial flora.
That woman in the HP/halitosis case-study had nothing else wrong with her either, so you are in the best position for this to work, also not having taken many antibiotics in the past is favourable to you.

Hey Halitosisux,

Yeah, the x-ray pretty much ruled out invasion of my wisdom teeth into the sinuses, which is good in one respect. My dentist had a thorough look at the x-ray (zooming in on potential problem areas) and could find nothing wrong at all.

I've had my palantine tonsils removed, but still have my lingual tonsils and my adenoids, so I think there are quite a few things I still need to discuss with my GP and ENT.

I found this website

http://www.doctorhoffman.com/halitos.htm

it suggests a number of possible causes for bb, including infected lingual tonsils, adenoids and bacterial infections in the nose. It also suggests that a FOUR week course of antibiotics is needed to get rid of bb, I'm not sure I'll convince my GP about that though. Think it's worth taking a printout of this page with me when I go to see her?

Hi Snobuni,
Were you getting tonsil stones and the usual things we all seem to have going on in them? I honestly think those stones are connected with halitosis not because they cause any stink, but more of a symptom of the excessive amounts of bacterial activity going on generally.

Worth taking that printout to help, but my first impression from reading it is that the antibiotics would be to clear any case of chronic tonsillitis and not specifically having a shot to clear BB in itself, so your doctor may interpret it this way too and you could get stuck on that. Worth seeing what your doctor thinks for lingual tonsils for you specifically.. also to see what connection that "lump" back there may have to them. Good luck

I just cut this from a website by a guy who really seems to know his stuff ( i know it doesnt look it from this, and its slightly out of context)..

"I'm even going beyond......please don't try it yet....I'm still testing it..... this a secret special commando attack...........first water pick irrigation (medium pressure) with a touch of Hydro Peroxide for gums teeth and tonsils, then brush w/ baking soda, then chlorine dioxide blast rinse...gargle too, a coat of Neosporyn topical triple anti-biotic (OTC) over the tongue wait a couple of hours to sniff out any bacteria standing.......and then 4.5 Billion probiotic chewable friendly bacteria....... now that's war..............."

I pasted this Snobuni because thinking about bacterial flora balance.. sounds like a good way to "reboot" things on the tongue without actually having to ingest antibiotics, although i dont know how he manages to hold it there for a couple of hours without ingesting some. Might have to look up the ingredients for that cream to see if they are ingestible antibiotics, i dont think swallowing a little will have much effect just the one time.
