hi everyone,
ive been reading your posts for a couple of weeks now and decided to join. yay! ](*,) im from ny, in my early 20's, and ive been dealing with this since high school. it wasnt until junior year that i coughed up my first tonsil stone, and not until last year did i actually see one, extract it, and inspect it. after that i was filled with false hope assuming that was the source of my problem, then the smell came back but no stones. this time (it happens on and off) its in my throat. DEEP in my throat. i can feel them.. theyre huge and sharp and of course they smell like shit. its so fucked up! im a charismatic, multi- talented and beautiful person here in the city where i can make it happen for myself you know? and get this.. my teeth are white and perfectly aligned. i get complements all the time. it just boggles peoples minds when they smell my breath.. like it doesnt add up. i hate this shit! i want to do so many things but ALL of them deal with some serious networking and one day the thought of that just terrified me and i havent left the house since. its been about 2 weeks and im not leaving until i cough these up , which can take months.

now that ive turned this into a rant lol, back to my original question about the tonsillectomy. aside from the adenoids, i read that there are also tonsil tissues deep w/ in the throat. now is that removed during the tonsillectomy? can they even get down there and perform the procedure? also, can the ENT remove the stones in my throat? ive heard the horror stories of doctors that cant help.. is this something theyre unwilling to do? im crossing my fingers that i got accepted for health insurance that i applied for recently, and if i do im booking an appt immidiately but id like to know how much they can actually help me.

Your situation sounds very similar to mine.

All the potential in the world, being wasted by this... disease. I know where you're coming from (literally, I live there too)

Go ahead and try to talk to some docs about the tonsils... most of them, I've probably already seen, and they will try to avoid being serious with you. One of the docs will do the surgery (Mt. Sinai, I think, can't remember) but he seems aggressive and I thought he was a liar with his statistic (80%) and he also didn't even look at my tonsils. He just made some stuff up to get me out of his office quickly. It seemed like he didn't really care at all, like he's been there, done that... and knows how to lie his way out of the situation by now.

But hey if you have insurance, go for it.

Seriously in my opinion, the tonsils are just one factor. I believe there is a small chance of being cured with that, a better chance of slight reduction, and that probably is temporary.

We are still waiting for a real cure. It does not exist yet.

Hi all,

I believe that tonsils have a great role to play in bad breath. I know for a fact. Try rubbing your tonsil with your middle finger. Smell it. It will smell like the tonsil stone.

For those who keeping smelling things through the nose/nasal bad breath I personally believe its the tonsils. I have the same thing. If you look where the tonsils are located they are very close to airway which leads to nose. It all connected ear nose and thoat.

Try a private ENT. One that is good and specialises in these things. The public doctors will ignore you and hurry you out of their office.

Its all in the tonsils people. Check them out. Just squeeze them and then smell it.
