Yeah that's interesting. So for some reason, that bacteria has managed to colonise our mouths, but it normally colonises the intestines. Fecal bacteria end up in our mouths often, but they don't normally stay and replicate there.

Now all that is needed is to find something specific in this bacteria (for example a certain protein which distinguish it from other bacteria), and attack it with a drug/antibiotic, specifically targeting this bacteria.

These things take time though. There's big money in bad breath remedies though, so maybe the research can be speedy [-o< [-o< [-o<

Katie good research.

Larc I hope we find real help soon.

maybe we were contaminated by this fecal bacteria somehow.

lets say,

having our toothbrush near the toilet when we flushed.

kissing someone who had the bacteria.

eating contaminated food.

acid relux-food coming back up our throat? Not sure about this one.

I have definately stopped keeping my toothbrush in the bathroom.

The fact of the matter is we have this and we need some help/antibiotic aimed at killing this dreaded bacteria.

Maybe that bacteria was able to colonize and stay because we had other bacteria such as those relating to gum disease. I think I did have some form of gum disease mild very mild when this all started. I remember flossing my teeth and the floss smelled horrible. Could be why this bacteria was able to colonize.

Did you read the comments which went along with the story-Larc? Katie?

Pretty interesting werent they?

There is hope...
"S. moorei was found in 100 percent of participants with halitosis and 14 percent of those without halitosis," said Clark. "As we identify and find out more about the bacteria that cause bad breath, we can

develop treatments to reduce their numbers in the mouth and eliminate bad breath. Currently, we are studying the effect of different antibiotics and antiseptics to see which are most effective against S. moorei."

There is hope. lets hope the Dental Association or colgate comes out with something that really works not just cover up but really kills the S. bacteria

from what iv seen, loads universities research BB, so its matter of time till they can fix it, its only bacteria right.
Only worry that anything they introduce may just kill it and then it reooccurs because of some unknown cause that gave us it in the first place, but dont want to put a downer on it stay strong xxx

You are right. I think most if not all the mouthwashes and toothpastes out there are for normal/acute or transient bad breath. What we need is something specially aimed at stopping CHRONIC bad breath the type that never dies/never leaves. The 24/7 type. Until scientist realise this type of bad breath is differnt from normal bad breath instead of covering it up then we will have some time to wait.

Study is plausible.
We need to find out why this and ohter types of bacteria responsible for bb LOVE US SO MUCH.
Probably our Immune System is too week to keep them low.I've got interesting idea here on this forum that bb is related to low GlobulinA on mucus membranes.

Have somebody have tested their globulins?
