A new member here...

Anyway, I'm a new member here and I don't really know how long I've had this...problem. But anyway, it's probably not too long. ( All I really remember, it started during puberty ---I've never had this problem before puberty). Just before mid-September to October of 2008, it was really terrible. I would have such a bad taste in my mouth sometimes. But, then during the summer ( summer of 2008), I started to really try to deal with the problem. So, I bought Therabreath ( Dr.Katz's products), which, although don't work, did help with the bad taste somewhat ( it wasn't so bad all the time, or so quickly anymore). However, Katz' product didn't really help with the white coating on the tongue. So what I did is actually buy a tongue scraper and start scraping my tongue ( I was surprised to see that my tongue actually started to have coating less and less ---by now, November, I rarely have any coating on the tongue; it's seriously pink). Once I started to scrape my tongue AND use Dr.Katz's products together, I realized one thing: my bad breath has significantly reduced. I say this because I can, for the most part, engage in conversation with my peers face to face and the teacher and they don't cringe or touch their noses ( but occasionally they do). My main problem, as of now, is to work on the smell which emanates from my nose, which has not really reduced at all like the air from the mouth. I don't know what may be the cause--I don't think I have any internal or systematic disorders. I have no tonsil stones and yes, I've tried working on the digestive system with pro-biotics from yogurt. I only seem to have one problem: bleeding from the gums, receding gums, and swollen gums, which are all a sign of periodontal disease--I think I've got a mild form of it because my teeth aren't really falling off. A few days from the 4th of November, today, I will go to visit the dentist to hopefuly get scaling and the other, non-surgical treatments to deal with periodontal disease. So, why exactly did I post this message? I want to know everyone's insights: Why should my nose smell even when the air coming from my mouth may not be bad? Is periodontal disease really a cause of bad-breath? And my last question is to those who have problems very similar to mine--have you eliminated periodontal disease and does your breath still smell bad?

Thank You,
Green
