Do any of you have bad smell coming from the nose even when you dont talk. I have noticed that when i ride in the train and dont talk, people still notice the smell and question it why it smells so bad. Also when i wake up in the morning my room smells pretty bad, my mom always says open the window so i am sure that the smell is coming from me. When we have meetings at work everytime i come in i usually stay quite for obvious reasons but people keep touching their nose, tell others to open door give me to look etc. Anyone have the same problem ?

This sounds obvious, but when the smell is coming from the nose, which you seem to suspect, its usually caused by a sinus or nasal infection of some sort. It could be coming from your lungs, but since you said you've seen a doctor she would know. Please read my other replies to you.

You only went to see your doctor 2 days ago. The amoxicillin have only just kicked in. Give it time to hopefully clear any infections present, and if not go back to your doc. DONT STOP THE AMOXICILLIN YET!! not without your doctor's supervision, otherwise you could make the situation worse than it already is.

Nasal stench is my main problem. I've had horrific comments when not even having my mouth open.

If you have a strong smell on the back of the tongue, that smell also goes out through nasal breathing as that air passes by that area too. So nasal smell doesn't mean you have a sinus problem etc...

How does your tongue base smell? 8)

my tongue base smells terrible, but i dont have any odour from my nose at all. This has been confirmed by several different people. I know people who dont have any BB, but if they put their fingers back there it smells. how weird.

Maybe the types of bacteria and the chemicals/gasses they produce solve that mystery.

Just started getting the nasal smell 2 weeks ago. Never had this before, but now when I lean a certain way, there is a "musty" smell emitting. When I lightly rub my nostrils, I can smell it. Looks like my condition is worsening ever since this diet adjustment.

It is interesting to hear that because last month my ENT prescribed me Amoxicillin to stop the post nasal drip and tonsil stones. While I was taking this medicine I had no reactions at all. However, some weeks later, I noticed some reactions. I mean, it seems Amoxixillin helped me to be BB free for a while. When my doctor heard that PND, tonsil stones, and BB came back, she suggested me have my tonsil removed. Now I am on day 10 post-op, 10 nights without sleep, 10 days of pain, and 10 days taking antibiotic. This is the worst pain and recovery I ever had. During these days, my husband said he smell nothing since I am on antibiotic. Also, I had no reactions at all from people despite of no being able to brush my teeth from 10 days. Wow! It is amazing what a antibiotic can do. I am wondering if a antibiotic can let us BB free, then it seems we have a kind of bacteria inside that promote the BB.

I do think that when our breath can be smelled even when our mouth is closed is because our breath smells. In order words, when we release the breath, it goes from our nose. So, the smell comes from our lung. In this way a doctor explained to me. Another day, a friend of mine came over from a Libanise restaurant and his smell was terrible. I could say he had came from that restaurant because I have a stink breath ever time I eat that food. The result was that he needed to stay overnight. He slept on the sofa and my husband and I had to close our bedroom in order not to smell his breath which was filling the whole house. In the morning, when I opened the door of my bedroom, the first thing I smelled was his breath from far away. It was very strong and it was released from his lungs. Such friend never had bad breath before, just that night because of the food he had during the day. Thus, I do think that when sinus problem causes BB, it does not fill out a room. On the other hand, when our lungs release bad breath, it does fill out a room or a entire house like my friend was able to do.

No, it was not a smell of food, it was a horrible smell. It was something like metallic mixed with sewer. The smell of food like garlic or something else does not go so far. As for a kind of gas, it does fill out room.

Hi Iris,

So many different forms of BB. I knew a guy once who had a similar odour when he used to drink a lot of alcohol. I think it was his liver and chemicals coming out through the lungs.
I know what you are going through with your tonsillectomy, its horrible. My ENT told me to start eating things like cornflakes the next day. I pushed myself to because he said it helps to keep it clean. For me the pain wasnt so much on the surface it was much deeper. I hope it works for you in curing your BB.

Hi! Yes, this happens to me too. I hate riding in elevators or buses because when I am leaving people are always rubbing their noses. I used to hold my breath before, but when I exhale, I think the odor is stronger, so I try to stay calm and breathe as normally as possible.

Also, I try to clean my nose as much as possible. I noticed, for example, I'm at work, halfway toward my shift I can feel that the BB is strong, so I try to clean the inside of my nose, and there is usually some kind of nose gunk.

i have that train experience every day.. it can get really depressing when there's a nice looking girl who deliberately stands next to you on a crowded train but then a minute later is deperately trying to turn the other way and touch her nose often...

I have been to a breath specialist and had the tests for gasses in the mouth and throat and he said that the smell was coming from my teeth which was reassuring to me as many ppl on here have said that they have been told there was nothing wrong with them.

Unfortunately due to work committments I have been unable to have my wisdom teeth out until next Friday (as I remember a thread on this site a while back about a guy who was cured of nasal BB from reomving his wisdom teeth). I will let you know the outcome in a couple of weeks.

Hi deebas,
Do you have any foul odours or tastes in the vicinity around your wisdom teeth? Could you please describe your situation regarding your wisdom teeth.
I have one which i'm having extracted shortly too. It's partially submerged in gum and oral tissues and has a "tonsillolith" odour if i touch it with my fingers. I've been using the tip of my tongue to try to stop too much buildup of odour there and its making a huge difference to the general bad taste in my mouth, the tongue odours and the halitosis in general.

I need to point out that the tooth itself isnt what smells, its the areas of unattached gum around the crown of the tooth that is creating an anaerobic pocket.
