I am frequently depressed so my teeth brushing is erratic, therefore the twice a day doesn't always apply. I'll do the twice a day thing for a few days, then one a day, then not brush for a while, then repeat the cycle (And so I get gum disease)So my oral hygiene is poor, admittedly, and I think half of the reason is because no matter HOW much I brush or scrape, the BB remains.
My dentist said there's nothing wrong with my teeth. I haven't got a mouth full of rotting teeth or anything. So now I'm thinking of exploring other options.
BUT what if IT is due to me not brushing my teeth on a regular basis. If I brushed my teeth twice a day for an entire week, shouldn't my BB go away instantly (it doesn't)? Or does it take a while for the BB to clear up once you've got it (due to bad oral hygiene).
Has anyone here suffered from BB all their lives, to discover that it was bad oral hygiene?

So, let's say it IS poor dental hygiene...

Well luckily this is really easy to try for yourself and see if it works. Just start brushing your teeth regularly.Swishswash wrote:BUT what if IT is due to me not brushing my teeth on a regular basis. Swish, I've got 2 nephews, one is over 16 years old, the other is over 20. They've never had BB of the type we see on this forum. But, they do have BB in the morning which only goes if they brush their teeth. I used to tease them by always knowing whether they'd brushed their teeth or not, simply because I could smell it. It would stay with them all day.
But I do know some people who can get away with it. My sister used to be a prime example of NEVER EVER having BB no matter what she did or didnt do. But in the past couple of years she is having problems with either a root canal/filling, or her gum on one side (she avoids discussing it for some reason - I do try discussing it but she is unaware she gets BB and I dont want to risk her suddenly making the connection and getting a breath complex). I know she is taking active steps to deal with her dental situation, so for the time being im leaving her to it.
I think there are a number of factors which determine whether a person gets away with poor hygiene and those who dont. The most important factor being the particular composition of oral bacterial species which happen to be inhabiting our mouth. Also, the variations in our immunological systems, along with individual chemisty and the ecology and environment and habitat which has been allowed to develop in the mouth and throat.
Dont risk the health of your teeth and gums by assuming they are ok. Keep them optimal and that keeps them out of the equation.
