the lick test

sort of following on from the other bad breath test from the other thread, but i think that the licking wrist test is not accurate. when you lick the wrist you can only use the front part of your tongue which is usually not smelly anyway due alot of saliva.
what i have done alot in the last year and a half or so(i cant remember ever doing this before then) is take your 2nd finger next to your thumb and place it towards the back middle of your tongue(the very back of my tongue does not really have any odour, it is usually the middle third) and bring it forward in a straight line so you get some saliva on your finger. when i smell my finger straight away i dont smell anything but if i leave the saliva to dry on my finger i start to get an odour on my finger. it smells a bit like a person's breath smells when his mouth is really dry after waking up or drinking alcohol.
i am not sure if every person's would be similar to this. i used to think this was the reason for my bad breath and why i wasted so much time concentrating on my tongue. but i think this odour and and the breath that i have been told about are not exactly the same, though maybe my tongue was a bit dirtier when all my wisdom teeth were in.
