My thoughts on BB (I dont have BB myself)

Post by Ahmet 2k »

I dont have bad breath. I am a normal guy. I have a good job, finishing up my school. I am early 20s. Good looking.

I am a "normal guy".

I dont have any breath problems, I stumbled onto this site out of curiosity.

I read this site, and I read that people are contemplating s*****e over bad breath. Thats ridiculous.

Honestly, I barely even notice if other people have bad breath.

And even if I met someone with bad breath, I would still be friendly and polite to them. It wouldnt change the way I think or feel about them.

I really dont mind if someone has bad breath. If it was very bad, I might pull my head back a bit. But I would still be friendly, polite, and respectful.

Bad breath really is not such a bad thing. Being ugly, or not having a job, being overweight is worse in my opinion.

and I would totally date a girl who had bad breath

I wouldnt mind at all... Looks, personality is much more important.

After reading this site I think you people are all hung up on BB, and honestly, most people dont even care about BB.

Thats awesome - thanks for posting your feelings on the matter.

Unfortunately many people have a very different view of this. Depending on the severity of the situation, people find it offensive and want to get as far away from you as possible.

I've lost two jobs because of this problem and have had several doctors tell me this is all in my head, even with a family member standing right there telling them that I have a severe bad breath problem and its made it hard for me to earn a living.

Well you probably have not met anyone with such bad breath that filled up a big room.

Most people on this site dont have the usual mild bb that everyone gets from time to time. This is constant bb that travels 4+ feet and makes unsuspecting people cough in disgust when they are hit by it. Most people dont even cough on purpose, their reaction is automatic when they get a wiff of the bb. You might think that it would not bother you but TRUST me , its hard to have confidence when you know you smell bad.

You should thank god every day that you dont have this problem. I like you am good looking, smart, and hard working. I am currently in school and am thinking about going to med school. Trust me , normal people are not able to realize how much this condition affects a persons life until they actually live through it. At this point i would rather have cancer than this disease..

I dont believe in God, and I dont see what that has to do with this discussion. I will be thanking nobody.

Personally, after reading this site, it is my opinion that a lot of you are overexaggerating your problem. Yes, some of you may very well have chronic bad breath. But it is almost impossible to be smelled, say, more than 4ft away. This is just impossible.

I feel that many of you are overexaggerating your problem.

Listen, a lot of people have some sort of social anxiety.

Some people are simply very nervous around others and find it hard to talk, or sustain conversations. Many people are paranoid in social situations for many different reasons.

Some of you may have a small breath problem, that otherwise would go unnoticed. But you are socially paranoid, and that exponentially drives your problem.

It is a social anxiety issue, not a bad breath issue for many of you.

Many people have social anxiety problems, and they come in many different forms which impede our communication in social settings.

Life is not easy for anyone, everyone goes through a lot. The important part is that you should be tough mentally.

You have to get over it and life is what you make it. Never forget that it is the most true thing ever.

You are in charge of your life.

Ahmet,

While i agree that this forum has people who have fixed their BB but are still obsessing over it thus are not able to evaluate their breath for what it is, and suffering from halitophobia.

Then there are people who HAVE a medical issue they can not get a grip on, depending how serious and chronic it has been, the severity and prolongness of suffering from it really damage a person's self esteem, social skills, kills any desire to go out there in FEAR to be judged. You have no idea! You can be yourself when you talk face to face with someone, the people who have BB cannot. They are aware of the bad odor, how do you think they can be themselves and look someone in the eye when talking? It ruins everything. What you said about not caring - well if it is sincere, people here surely appreciate, though lets not be naive, fresh breath is expected from people and is a factor for many things in our social lives. People who do everything to get rid of it, have excellent hygiene which does nothing, as soon as mouth and teeth are cleaned, the smell comes back, try to imagine how antisocial you'd become? But it is difficult for you to imagine it, because you think of BB as something that just needs to be brushed away. You know years ago when I didnt have BB and i would read some stories in papers columns i could not understand, just read, think about it for a moment, comprehend it as if they need to brush better, and go on with my life. That is how you see it, and you will not be able to know how it changes you if you, lets hope never, have to endure it in in your life. Now I like to think that i have fixed whatever medical i had, but the fear of it is still with me, it takes time not to let it rule your life and putting efforts to overcome it, though it will NEVER be forgotten.

P.S. And yes there are BB types that can fill out a room and can be smelled from many feet away, sometimes you cannot understand where or what person a smell comes from because a person is not in front of you. I have smelled such BB types in a big store or a restaurant. Such types are just more rare. But you cannot deny their existence.

Really? Wow! This is a really good example of how deluded the medical profession are on this subject. This seems to be such a common thing to hear from medical professionals that it makes me wonder..... we know that in dental and medical schools, they don;t get taught about bad breath, well that's what I thought. Seems like they are all taught something though.... to tell you it's in your head no matter how strong the evidence to the contrary - in your case having someone there to corroborate your story. This is just insane!
