How is the salivarius treatment going. My particular probiotics regimen is ok. There are some benefits - but they have levelled off. Looking for other strategies and the salivarius seems promising. keep us posted. take care.

hey findthecure,
i have stopped the salivarius weeks ago. it was like a miracle cure for a while - helped my breath, totally helped my digestion BIG TIME. but then it's like my body started to develop resistance to it, and i had to keep upping the dosage to keep it working. in the end i was taking something like 25 pills at a time at 9 billion cfu's (or whatever that measurement is called) at a time! and it was still not working really.
so i stopped. the bad news is that my breath had actually gotten worse from using the salivarius.
i was hoping htat it would go back to the way it was -but i don't know if it's true - but it seems worse. as if the bad bacteria has gotten even stronger after defeating the salivarius or something. i used to get a metallic/bitter/sour taste in my mouth, but now it's almost constantly there. and the fecal smell seems to have gotten a bit worse, or at least i can smell it more now. however, my dry mouth has gotten better by other things that i'm doing, i presume. i still do oil pulling - i just started to add a couple drops of oil of oregano to it. think it's helping but not completely sure. i've tried to change my diet. eating much less meat now. chicken seems to really not help my breath. not so much with beef. am also trying to eat more raw veges, and drinking fresh juice. it seems grapefruit juice helps freshen the breath, by the way. one of my problems is sticky saliva, and that comes and goes. ever since the salivarius, i have to say i'm getting MORE relief from having more watery spit, but like it said, it's not consistent. so i don't know what's causing it.
sometimes i get this EXTREME fatigue after a meal, and the breath would get worse and my spit would thicken. so i can't imagine that digestion has nothing to do with it. i'll keep trying to adjust my diet and hope it helps.
how about you? how's it going?

Thanks for the info. I have been taking two different types of probiotics and a whole lot of other stuff - see the "my thoughts" post. My digestion is definitely better. I can digest chicken just fine - my stomach can't handle beef. Things were going really well and then I added flax seed oil to the list of things i was taking (3 days ago and stopped yesterday) and that screwed things up a bit. my stomach was not terrible but not as good as before. also my saliva seemed thicker and my breath worse. I think I am going to add salivarius to the mix. Not too much - just the same steady dose. I think the longer I can keep my s**** looking healthy, the better chance that my breath will gradually improve. Let us see. your salivarious experience seems interesting - maybe stanislaw was onto something. are you sure your breath got worse because of salivarius - could it be that you slacked off on other things. so did salivarius make your mucous thinner and keep it that way after you stopped. that is really interesting. it means that we are clearly onto something (at least for our type of BB). salivarius may not be the cure but it seems that we are on the right track. also i will stick with what i am doing and try salivarius as well and stay with it as long as my bowels seem to be doing well. I can detect that much better than I can the quality of my breath. take care.

hi - i still take some probiotics. specifically primal defense. i don't really feel like it's helping per se. i take some chlorella and papaya enzyme - not everyday. it's hard to stick to anything when i don't see immediate result like the sali. the sali was nothing short of miraculous. literally MINutes after taking the first dose my mouth started to water, and i began to have this clean taste. i felt energized - like lighter. as if my digestive system was all of a sudden working properly. that's how i learned that a large part of my problem came from the digestive system. i'd been feeling "wrong" for so long that i i didn't know that it was wrong. only when i started the sali did i learn what felt right.
and i'm sure my breath got worse even while i was on the sali. i went from 2 pills at a time to 25 pills at a time. it's like the bad bacteria was working extra hard to beat the sali. i hadn't changed my diet at the time so i was eating the way i always did. at the beginning of taking it, i also started to have way more normal bowel movements. i have serious problems in elimination. and the sali helped sooooo much - but again, only for a while.
i tried kefir for a few days - but haven't really persisted. i guess i should keep doing that. i just ordered some "live" sauerkraut. i heard that's even better than taking probiotics or eating yogurt/kefir, etc.. it's real food, i figured it's better than taking supplements so i have nothing to lose. honestly, after my sali experience, i'm a bit afraid of taking probiotics now. i'm afraid of further increasing bacteria resistance. i also try taking lemon juice before meals.
the fruit juice and flax seed (i swallow a few tbspoons with water) has helped with my BM. but my breath has not been that good lately. like i said, that metallic taste really bothers me. and my saliva at times can still get quite sticky and thick, but at least not everday anymore. i'm trying to get away from dairy, but can't quit coffee, at lesat just yet. i think i need to exercise, but have a real hard time making myself do it. so my solution is to take really hot baths sometimes.
maybe it's my imagination, but it seems like after i sweat a lot, my breath is a little better the next day.
i've noticed that even when some of the other odors are gone, there's a fecal odor that persists. i can smell it on the floss after i clean bettween teeth, nad the smell only exists between certain teeth. i don't quite know what to make of that. flossing does help tho'. i also try to gargle with grapefruit fruit seed extract in water. it helps wiht the dry mouth for sure.
so i know that i'm onto something in terms of the realtionship between my bad breath and my digestion. when that fatigue which seems to come from an overburdening of my digestive system, i'd literally feel like i can't move any of my limbs and that i could fall asleep anywhere. that's when my mouth usually gets very sticky. (I connect the fatigue with the bad breath/taste very strongly) that's usually after dinner. i'm trying to eat lighter dinners now, and will see if it helps.
combined with the fact that i get food poisoning very very very easily - i have such a weak stomach - further says to me that i don't hvae enough good bacteria in my digestive system. and that the bad ones are so strong that the good ones can't really survive long. however, i'm not sure taking probiotics is the right track for me. i've tried so many, and my body just keeps building resistance. i'll let you know if the sauerkraut helps. i experimented with the tung brush for a week, but have switched back to a stainless steel tongue cleaner. it seems to work better for me.
i might try the colgate total altho' i doubt it'd help. i think i might have even used it before but with not good results. i use natural toothpastes now which don't create more weird tastes in my mouth like all those halitosis products and/or regular commercial paste.
do you have different odors on your breath sometimes? i feel like maybe there are lots of different types of germs in my mouth, that even when a product eliminates one, there are others that keep thriving. how in the hell did they get so strong?!

Hey thanks for the detailed info. I think we have the same problems. I too get food poisoning really easily. It seems clear to me that there aren't enough good bacteria in my stomach. Something that Stanislaw wrote really caught my attention. Apparently salivarius helps digest protein. I had comprehensive blood tests done 3 or 4 years ago. The nurse felt I might have gout - because of the undigested protein. The doctor siad it was nothing to worry about at the time - but needed to be addressed when i got older. interesting in this context.
Also, I've been to two gastroenterologists. Both diagnosed IBS (basically means they don't know). I am sure you are aware of it - google it o.w. These are the foods you have to stay away from - milk and milk products, chocolate, coffee, red wine, beer (i don't stay away from the latter two) and some other stuff. Try having black tea instead of coffee in the morning. it will make a difference. Also, if you are not allergic to bananas, have at least one a day. Have enough water and fiber capsules helps a lot.
Take Care.

two things that are difficult for me - quiting coffee and drinking enough water. *sigh* i've been trying harder, but the most i can do is drinking more herbal tea instead of water. but still i know i don't have enough liquid intake. esp. now that the weather is cold, it's hard to drink water... even room-temperature water chills me...findthecure wrote:Hey thanks for the detailed info. bananas - i remember that it'd give me worse breath. a lot of fruits do. grapes, apples, bananas. cataloupe or honeydew (can't remember which, maybe both) give me a very distinct HORRIBLE breath. but i really like them. watermelon gives me sour breath. does that happen to you?
i find raw vegetables don't - but again, something that's hard for me to eat.
i don't know if this is in my head. but eating olives seem to help my breath. and ok, here's the very strange part - esp. along with garlic.
did you get the saeurkraut from the grociery store? i read that those don't help. i just ordered some with "live" bacteria online. i'll let you know how that goes.
kefir makes me pretty bloated, so i don't really do it regularly anymore.
i bought some activia yogurt - sometimes even when i know that some things probably won't work, i do it anyway. soemtimes just hanging on to a hope even when i know it's somewhat false helps me get through the day with optimism. this time hoping that this activia stuff is something new that'd be more effective.
i don't mind eating stuff that's good for me anyway. i just don't like cold food esp in the winter.
and may i ask you how old you are? do you get fecal breath? you don't have to answer anything you don't want to. i just want to compare out conditions.
