hey guys, I dont really feel like explaining my entire situation but I was just curious as to whether or not there is an effective treatment for chronic oral thrush(been around for years), there is so much nonsense on the internet that it is hard to separate the truth from the lies. It seems that everyone on this board is extremely knowledgeable and honest about this kind of stuff so i figured you were the right people to ask. Thanks for your help.

this is definitely not the white coating most of us have. Oral thrush and candidiasis (and I think something else) cause white patches on the tongue. Get this checked out by an ENT asap, you might have found your solution.

yah its not really a "coating" per say, i know the coating you guys often refer to because i have experienced that too and it comes off and smells like shit but that only occurs if i practice poor oral hygiene and im sure this occurs in almost everyone. This is definetly thrush because i have also experienced a candidiasis infection in my urethra which was treated by a urologist but returned, the oral thrush came about at about the same time so it cant be a coincidence. Is an ENT the proper person to see for this??

I think oral thrush is caused by candidiasis.
Does it smell? Can you take those patches of somehow?
Maybe a very good nutritionist can help.

Thing is we have that coating by having perfect hygiene, it doesnt have to do with hygiene

But thats a completely different thing of what you have.
Anyway, I don't know in your country, at least here the ENT is definitely the one to see.

right, but does the coating you guys have at least scrape off momentarily when you clean your tongue, or is it permanent? The patchy whiteness I have only goes away if i like pick at it and it only will go away in that one spot and when it is scraped away it just bleeds and is painful and sensitive for the next couple days then it returns. So im pretty positive it is not the same time of "white coating" that is so often referred to on the boards. At the same time, i still suffer from bad breath and my tongue is white so there is probably some correlation. Any feedback about your white coatings and how they differ or are similiar to mine would be greatly appreciated and helpful. Thanks guys

The fact that its patches and not a coating shows it all. Its completely different. What you have is not a "coating" as we mean it, plus ours doesnt hurt because its ON the tongue its not like its attached or anything. Its just white gunk on the tongue and it goes away when you scrape it but not completely because the tongue is not a smooth surface but a rough one (those who have the coating, normally it should be pretty smooth). Its definitely not a normal coating so go to an ENT and dont think much. Granted you could have both patches and the coating but I dont know, have the doc check it.

its more "patchy" than patches, i guess i said patches because it looks like patches when i vigorously scrape off certain parts but it is always white. I do the lick and smell test and there is a little bit of a smell but nothing too offending (from both the front and the back of the tongue). Is the lick test an accurate way of knowing what your breath smells like?(assuming the smell originates in the mouth)

dude you have a simple case of oral thrush. Go to your local GP and he'll prescribe you nystatin or diflucan and the fat lady sings.

unzungzero7:
The lick test is not that accurate coz it only works if the bacteria is in the saliva so if your bb`s coming from your stomach you may have to use other methods. One method that used to work for me was by breathing on a slightly wet facetowel. I`ll cover my mouth with it then breathe on it. A slight odor would stick to the facetowel. About your candida problem, it may be azole resistant so ketaconazole & other meds that have azole at the end of their names wont be effective. I know someone who cured her candida using a toothpaste with triclosan. Although you musn`t overbrush with it coz triclosan`s pretty strong & I`m not sure if it works on all oral candidiasis.

have you looked into threelac?
Im using it at the moment to see if it helps with yeast and my own symptoms of tiredness and coated tongue.
http://www.candidasupport.org/
that is the link. As far as i can tell it is doing SOMETHING as since starting it i have had bouts of diareah and constipation, and some moments of extremely bad breath never before experienced, but the support guys who run the site tell me that this means the threelac is working to flush the yeast cells from my body. Im not one to go for the "natural" way, but i feel this shit is working for me so far.
