does bad taste always correspond with bad breath?

does bad taste always mean you have bad breath? there are days when i can tell both exist but there are also days (like right now) when i feel like i have the worst taste in my mouth but i cannot seem to detect bb on myself through the lick taste, breathing quickly into my nose or anything like that. so i am just wondering if there are times when it tastes bad but your breath is actually fine.. anyone know? also, i can feel a thicker plaque coating on my teeth, even though i brushed my teeth a lot today.. i don't know if that corresponds to the bad taste or if the plaque feeling is just my imagination. the other thing about today is i have a lump in the back of my throat (my PND comes and goes).
anyway, as for the taste, it's a familiar taste but i don't know how to describe it. you know how there are different bad tastes in your mouth sometimes? well, this is not the sour one. it almost feels like a milky one (like the kind of bb you might get after eating dairy or cheese).
