Those suffering from bad breath since they were a kid...

Post by coconuthead »

...more than likely your bad breath is not coming from your mouth/dental. I was reading about small kids with bad breath, because I have suffered from it since I was 10. I could have been suffering from it a little before the age of 10, but I wasn't told about until I was 10, so I assumed I began suffering from it at 10.

I was reading about parents whose kids suffered from bad breath, kids ranging from ages 3-11, and most of the kids bad breath came from either:

Sinuses
Tonsils
Food intolerances

So if you are one of those who suffered from bad breath as a kid, I would recommend you focus on the 3, because one of these could very much be your problem.

I also read about one parent whose son bad breath was caused by a small piece of tissue in his nose. The doctor found a small piece of tissue stuck all the way in his nose. When the doctor was finally able to get the piece of tissue out, the woman said it smelled "rancid". She said her son had a habit of rolling up tisse and cleaning his nose out with it. A piece tore off and got trapped in his nose, and it caused him to have really bad breath. Of course, after the tissue was removed his bad breath went away.

Yeah I agree with this post. It is definitely NOT the mouth, or else we wouldn´t have this bad breath problem anymore after using all chemicals in the world.

One thing is funny though:

Food Intolerance can result from the absence of specific chemicals or enzymes needed to digest a food substance.

And this post I read yesterday. This guy's problem was Lack of Enzymes.

dolittle has described how its possible for a professional (or whoever admits they can smell your bad breath) to determine whether odour is coming from the mouth, the nose or the lungs. All simple techniques.

But, regarding mouth odours, a person could have a rotting tooth or tooth treatment which causes it's own stench, which wouldn't necessarily cause the tongue to smell bad.

Or they could have a bad smelling tongue - and I don't mean the ridiculous "lick and let dry and then sniff" test, because even a person with clean breath can test positive in this way - I mean the "rub your finger hard on the back of your tongue and immediately sniff your finger" test - if you can immediately smell a strong vinegary/shitty stench then it's absolutely certain that your breath is going to have a degree of foulness to it.

As to the cause of that odour, well, just about every known cause of bad breath can lead to odours building up there.

Even powerful antibiotics that stop the odour there temporarily aren't enough to stop it permanently, even if you took the antibiotics permanently - the problem eventually returns because of antibiotic resistance, etc.

Saliva could smell from systemic causes, and before it even gets secreted into the mouth. TMA gets into saliva and mucus in TMAU for example. If saliva already smells then it's going to make the tongue smell of the same odour.

I sometimes used to chew really strong fruity flavoured gum and even when my mouth eventually turned back into sewage, I could still taste some of that fruity flavour hours later - because it was still lingering on my tongue surface and around my taste buds. That's how easily the tongue can become "contaminated" by odours that originate elsewhere.

Yes, in most cases BB comes from the usual stuff we read about in books, but in some cases it does not.
